OBX.....then I put a Solo in today. The solo is sooo much smoother, but its still a pain to get into 2nd

car's new too. 16,000 miles. and i'm easy on it....barely ever slam it into gear.

Im glad to hear somebody else is having this problem other than me. Im going to take mine out I think. Same deal 2000 LS, Solo ss, downshifting to 2nd and puttin it into 1st at stop lights are both a bitch sometimes.

I have a Skunk2 short shifter and the Energy Suspension bushings, I seem to have no problems at all. Maybee you have the shifter bolt on to tight. Mine feels great, and i have had it for 6 months now and no problems.

I have no problems at all with my $40 short shifter from AutoZone. What's harder for me (w/ both stock and short throw) is going into 5th. For some reason it's more difficult to move the shifter to the right of neutral, and so it takes longer to get into 5th, and I end up having to rev-match as I upshift if I don't want it to jerk.

OBX
AutoZone
ALL ALUMINUM SHIFTERS

The aluminum can't take the stress and heat from the exhaust. Your shifter WILL snap before long if you are had on it at all. The people that baby shift their car's like a Sunday driver ALL THE TIME shouldn't have a problem, but that one time you shift the hell out of it... snap... and you loose your shift **** too since it's threaded on in most situations.

I have the Skunk2, which I bought when the OBX snapped and I lost my DC Sports shift **** b/c of it. I learned then, you get what you pay for. The DC Sports, Skunk2, Neuspeed, etc... are all billet STEEL.. Steel can withstand the stress and heat. Aluminum CAN'T.

I had shift problems with the OBX, it just didn't feel right. Skunk2 is PERFECT. Good luck

I dunno man, I've had my AutoZone shifter for over 6 months now and I've done some pretty hard redline drag race-style shifts and I haven't had any problems yet. It doesn't hit my exhaust at all, doesn't rattle or anything, feels almost just like stock except for insanely short shifts.

i agree with Pb, cheap *** short shifter r just that, CHEAP. mine broke, luckily for me i was able to drill a hole in the aluminum and salvage my shift ****. that drill bit was well used and just went through that short shifter aluminum like a hot knife through butter. what a POS. my new shifter is tight, slightly different position but im used to it now. what made it worse was i was at the track when it broke. thats a way to end ur day quickly.

I'm not even talking about SS breaking....I'm talking about not being able to make the 3rd to 2nd shift.

Mine is fine. Only thing that is a pain is having to rev-match going into 5th.

Get the ES shift linkage bushings. It will make the shift more precise and get rid of that rough feel.

i had a b& m for almost 4 yrs and its fine but it rattles like a ****
the reason its hard into 2nd and or third is your clutch master cylinder
replace it and your shifts will be fine......
