wheres my coolant going?
ok i just replced my radiator, the bottom hose was leaking so i got a new one and fixed it, i filled my reserve tank up to almost max 3 days ago and now its mysteriously down to minimum. i checked for leaks and couldnt find any, wheres it going?
did you bleed your coolant system after installing a radiator? Also if you didn't open the heater core( turn heater on) you could have air in the system.
My favorite way of bleeding I do everyday at work is.
1. leave cap off
2. turn on heater
3. run car and add coolant as needed
4. when fan cuts on your done.

No...unless you've been driving awhile and decide to open the cap
If the cars been sitting awhile, open the cap...check coolant level...fill and start the car...then follow what si-2000 said

i did check, cant u wead?

I'm having the same prob, except I know what's the deal. My b18b upper hose is a bit larger than the cx radiator's inlet, and even with 2 clamps it slooooly looses coolant, enough to empty the reserve tank in a week. You might not think an occational but constant drip could cause that much loss when the car is sitting, but when it's hot & running ~15psi (or whatever your cap is set for), it can amount to a lot.
I'd say check for any flashing (sharp edges from when the plastic was molded) on that outlet and get a new return hose for that outlet. Rubber can get tired after 81k miles of flowing hot coolant.

check thermostat also
My reserve tank wasnt going down...but it wasn't going anywhere but i was still overheating
Just changed the thermo and no probs yet.
Problem is the thermostat should open and close...if it's stuck closed or open, it'll cause the engine to use more or less to compensate.
I think i explained it right...

It could just be you had or have air in the system and it's slowly working its way out. Happened to me a few times.

i have this same problem... where should i add the coolant? in the radiator, or in the resivoir? all the hoses are tight, and there are no leaks what so ever... also, how much do u add? until it over flows?

Add in both. The rad, until it reaches the top; and the reservoir up to the 'fill' line.

This is the correct answer. Your overflow bottle went low because you still had air in the system. The car simply purged the excess air out when it was hot and sucked in the coolant as it cooled down. Your car will be fine now, just top up the bottle and go.

Ahhhh...no........water pumps can and do leak and most often slowly.

Yes I know they can leak and your right. I was thinking of the bearing binding and making noise which wouldn't cause a leak. sorry I wasn't clear.

ok i tried what civic-si-2000 told me to do and the fan never kicked on, it got to normal running temp and i noticed some smoke coming out of my tail pipe, so i revved it and more came out and i checked and i could see a couple of drips of something. now i dont have my axel back on so i dont know if thats why. it does do it when i normaly drive it, could it just do that from the cap being off?
yea thats what i was thinking, it was almost at normal running temp when i noticed the smoke, but like i said it doesnt smoke when i drive around. y would it do it from just the cap being off?
