Default Sand noise coming from motor when idling

Like title says, been searchin for a while and can't find anything real solid on this but on my 90 GS when my motor is all warmed up and idling fine the motor is loud (sand noise coming from somewhere or maybe sometimes a tappin, not a valve tap though) Can't figure out what it is exactly and its been getting annoying. Just seein if anyone else had a similar problem

It maybe a loose timing belt. Have the belt tensioning proceedure done per the manual. The noise you are describing typically means a bearing is going out, but a loose t-belt can cause that noise to come from your distributor. The tapping can be from worn valve train, even if your valve clearance is w/in spec. You may need to replace the rockers!

Thats what I was thinking was something with the timing, when I had my DSM usually the sand noise meant a bad idler or something, wasn't sure if the same applied with Hondas. Thanks for the advice

Well, it's not the off timing itself that's causing the noise, rather the loose t-belt causing both. Typically, the noise goes away after the engine warms up (expansion takes up the slack of the loose t-belt) but on a REALLY loose t-belt, it will still make noise after it's warm. It still could be a bad bearing, but I've seen a lot of bearings replaced just to find that all that was really needed was a t-belt tension adjustment (yes it comes with an auto-tensioner, there still is a proceedure to ensure proper tension). Good luck!
