Default CV joint? Axle? Strut?

I was wondering if you guys could help me diagnose would could possibly be the problem with my car. Usually when Im turning slowly I will hear ONE light pop coming from the front passenger side. It doesnt continue to click, just really does one pop and then is done.

It will also sometimes happen when Im accelerating and coming to a stop, but not very often.

All the threads I read say its a cv joint only if you hear a constant pop or tapping, mine just does the one. The axle is brand new on the drivers side.

Also I was looking underneath the car, and I THOUGHT I saw that the axle butt wasnt completely flush with the tranny, could that possibly be it or no?

Thanks alot guys

Sounds like a suspension problem. Maybe a ball joint, tie rod end or some other bushing. Control arms maybe. Thats what I would be looking at.

This may be your problem^^^^
I would get that axle all the way in and flush to the tranny before I went replacing parts.

The car has been lowered by about 2" roughly for awhile now, stock struts on the front, and kybs on the back. Would the struts start making a poping sound?

ive heard someone say once in their cavalier that they lowered..that when cornering or hitting a certain speed their halfshaft would pop in and out just once, not a constant knock. not sure y but he said it did it shortly after he lowered it..possibly ur halfshaft is at a different angle since being lowered and tends to want to come out of the tranny?? not sure just an idea.

Well it has been that way for awhile. I recently had a brand new built engine put in with a passenger side autozone axle. Not the rebuilt one, but the new ones. Within about a month it finally started doing it.

So I would LIKE to think its not the axle, but it seems more so than not that it is. I just wanted to find out if anyone else has had this problem. As I dont wanna just start replacing stuff for the fun of it. Still got 2k I gotta put into the head
