Need help with running lean/SMSP header
Hey guys, since I've put on my SMSP header/exhaust I've had CEL 45 for running too rich/lean. And I do notice the cars air fuel mixture is messed up. I checked the spark plugs and replaced them, hopeing maybe that was the problem. Nope, still getting the same CEL. I have tried reseting the ECU and the light did go off for about a day then comes back on.
As you guys know, the o2 sensors had to be extended for the header, i'm also using a carsound cat BTW. I'm losing a lot of gas mileage and I feel like the cars not running correctly. Could the o2 sensors have been damaged when they were extented, the guy spliced them in, no connectors that I know of and I'm still OBD2 at the moment. Someone told me splicing in an o2 circuit will change the resistance of the wire and ultimately change how the car runs because the ecu will see different values than it should.
I can get my friends SAFC-2 to fuel tune the setup and hopefully correct it but some people say it might be the o2 sensors that are messing up the car. I know I have the option to go Hondata but I really just want to correct the problem, which I believe is running too lean. I dont want to cook any valves or pistions. The old spark plugs indicated I was running lean so I'm worried about this, since I've been driving around like this for a few months
I know its either the o2 sensors that are messed up or I am in desperate need of a fuel tune. What are your guys thoughts on my problem?? I would like to get her fixed before the Central Florida meet this weekend ...

Do you have 0 tuning? You are most likely running lean... and that is a recipe for disaster.
Get a wideband onto your car and tune it ASAP.

well you definitely have a few issues to sort out (o2 sensor wiring, TUNING, etc)
when does your ecu throw the CEL?? i was getting the same code from running extremely rich. it would usually throw the CEL in 4th or 5th gear at very low throttle position (usually on decel too) between 3k-4k rpm.
bottom line. GET IT TUNED ASAP because you could be doing more damage than you think.

code 45 is usually bad primary o2 sensor (at least it was with mine). You are most likely running quite rich because the o2 sensor is bad or the signal is off and the ecu is running open loop (super duper rich) - I suspect your mileage sucks as well.....
Double check your wiring and if necessary swap primary and 2ndary o2 sensors to verify failure.

The Ecu throws the code 24/7!!!! It is always on. Never goes away then returns, always there. I have reset the ECU many times thinking that the ecu would fix itself by adjusting to the larger size pipe diameters but no good, only stayed off for about a day then proceeds to come back and never leave me the ***** alone!!
I'm planning on getting it tuned this week so shoud have some dyno graphs
