Default Is it just me or does abs suck in the rain?

I know it sounds dumb but i used to drive a non abs le baron with rear drums and threshold braking seemed better with that car than my integra... It just seems to me like the abs is over active and actually lengthen the stop of my gsr in the rain, like when i fully depress the pedal that damn abs kicks in and starts surgin' causes my heart to stop... sure it stops you from lockin up, but I could swear it causes longer distances to stop... First time I noticed it I turned to fast in the rain and dabbed the brakes then all of a sudden the abs kicked and my car woudnot stop, I ran right into a curb, luckily I yanked the E-brake and time and hit my tire sidewall instead of my front fender....

mine isnt to bad in the rain. the snow tends to be a problem though. i tapped the brakes about two weeks ago and it kicked in and almost slid me into a parked car on the side of the road. for me its the snow but the rain isnt to bad at all.

Mines not a real problem in the rain either, the snow though absolutly sucks. I got all my parts to do the abs to non abs conversation, don't have a problem with it just don't like it, but now today while driving it my ABS light just came on so hopefully within the next week out that **** comes

i had that problem and it was my abs control unit, it cost too much to replace that so i just did the rs conversion few months ago. braking is much better, i actually prefer not to have abs. i've drove in the snow, and drive in the rain daily. i have no problems.

don't drive like an idiot in the rain/snow and u wno't have that problem...just slow down and keep a decent following distance...so that you wno't have to slam on your brakes activating the abs

LOL
Geez... that may be true but I guess you've never hit your brakes going over a speed bump in the snow, it'll scare the crap out of you ... enough for you wish that the ABS didn't kick in.
Safe driving is always the smart thing though

So, how does this work? The parts sit around and talk to each other?

yup...i noticed that abs sucked hard a long time ago. i don't know why they still sell abs equipped cars to states where it snows?!?

just last year i almost got killed because i was going down a pretty steep road during a slushy snow fall and i stepped on my brakes a little harder than i should have to slow down. my abs kicks in and locks up for a split second just long enough for my car to slide into a 4 way intersection. luckily everyone stopped at the intersection saw what was happening to me or else i'm sure someone would of been right in the middle of the intersection when i came skidding down.

this was in the rain,

if my car was to skid,,, i would of hit the car turning left.

I removed my ABS fuse, solved the problem. I couldn't take it anymore. I met with 2 snowbenches because of them and got to replace my front bumper.

I figured ABS are for people who can't figure out how to break correctly.

For all the people who say: they're gonna save you sometime... WELL, it drove me in a snowbench TWICE.... **** it ...

Im not sure if its the ABS only on Honda or Acura cars that sucks... but its not as sensible on my Dad's Ford.

im also wanting to do this for weight reduction. and just a fuse is not going to help much. is there a kit to completely remove it?

It's a fuse box and a little motor for the ABS system.. Im not sure how much weight it will remove though. Tell me if you do so, it'd be appreciated.

Wow, I knew that there was somethin about abs... Cause I could swear its more of a burden than a blessin... It put me into a curb once and almost twice... Abs is for female drivers that cant brake properly...Just like tcs and all that other **** for people who cant drive or actually live in a climate where they need it, not me...

you guys are out of control.......I cant stand when people say they prefer non abs to abs ...... thats like saying you would prefer not having seatbelts in your car to having seatbelts in it.....I'll take the abs, thank you

ABS is not designed to shorten stopping distances. Its purpose is to allow for steering control during extreme braking. It also makes the car more stable during braking by reducing rear-wheel lock-up and subsequent oversteer.

Ill take non abs because the people who did my conversion fucked up some how and my abs never kicks in, unless I never haven't experianced it yet.
