GT FANS - Gran Turismo 4 ITR
I know you guys in US get your mits on GT4 in the next couple of days, we in Europe have to wait til march. We did however have a sniff of what GT4 is like with GTPrologue which was released around christmas. Remember how the ITR was in GT3, underpowered, understeered etc, well if GTP is anything to go by the ITR in GT4 is a real sweet drive, you can balance the car through corners with the throttle, it liftoff oversteers like the real car and has a vtec power and noise surge at the right place - roll on March!!!
shame they still dont have a life like force feedback analog steeringwheel setup for the ps2 or PC.
i find need for speed underground 2 more entertaining than GT4 because of this. while NFSU2<GT4 in realism, its not all that realistic to begin with jmo.

Yeah, not sure about that, I've just ordered a logitech driving force pro wheel for GT4 when it comes out, was pricey but if i'm not happy i'll ship it back. Apparently it is pretty good and the feedback loads up nicely when the cars in a drift. ITR + Nurburgring nordschliefe =
i can't wait! too bad you guys over in europe have to wait.
i did a pre-order on mine. even though it officially comes out tomorrow (2/22/2005), i'll have to wait for them to ship it out. as for the logitech driving force pro, i played gt3 with it at one of the local stores.
i've never played a driving game with a steering wheel before so i really can't compare it to other games with other wheels. but what i could gather, it was great! and to make it even better, gt4 will enable the logitech wheel to run with a 900 deg. steering range.
kepani-who's been salivating @ the recent commercials...

thw wheel is awesome, even better when unlocked into 900 degree mode. You will have to mount it solidly, it forces back hard enough to move most simple mounts aside from a table

on the one hand, it'll probably take me long to relearn the physics.
but then again, that's what makes it challenging and at the same time fun.
i keep hearing about some of the other competitors of the gt series:
- enthusia professional racing
- forza motorsports
- toca race driver 2
are any of these games a serious bet against gt4? in my humble opinion, it seems that many of the racing *simulators* as of late have not fared very well versus the gt series.

i'm not really a 'gamer' as such just a car nut, 98 octane for blood etc... the GT games have been good at replicating physics, now the original GT looks pretty dated, but at the time was the best for dynamics. GTPrologue is a marked improvement on GT3 throughout and comparing an elise and ITR which I have driven in the real world, the cars behave as you would expect in the game. Word is that GT4 is going to be even better, a more organic experiance where every bump and incline effects the car.
I'm especially looking forward to the nordshliefe as I took my Ford Focus around the ring a couple of times 2 years ago this summer. It really earned its boot badge!
Going to plan a trip there this summer to let the ITR loose. If you are in Europe you really should go.
Also I can relive my BEST MOTORing Type-R DVD dreams on the Tunska circuit!

Forza for Xbox is supposed to be a great game. I've seen the screenshots and some demo videos on the web, and it looks like it'll be fun. Of course, they may not get it right the first time. I mean, GT has been around for 5 releases now, and they keep learning from each release, and make the next one better. So, as the new kid on the block, Forza will probably not blow GT out of the water, but watch out for Forza 2 on Xbox2. And what about GT5 on PS3? Man, makes me drool just thinking about those.

Nah just kidding, but my girlfriend is probably gonna hate the game. Last time I was playing games I didn't even realize she was there LOL.
