Default Building GSR Motor for turbo, but won't have turbo until later....

I plan to build my current GSR motor or buy a 84.5mm block with Golden EAgle Sleeves and have 10:1 Compression with forged internals. My question is can I build the motor. Drive it like that. And once I have the turbo parts accumulated bolt it all on and go for a tune and everything be good?

Awesome. I need to total up the amount of stuff so I know what to get. Get all the motor build stuff. Send the block of once I'm out of school, then get it back. Assemble, tune, ride. Then $2k later turbo @11 psi. Sounds like its going to be fun and someething for me to look forward to and rememeber while working at my great job (setting tombstones :s)

Ok, I need help choosing compnents now.

Pistons - I've heard that endyn is very very good but also Wiseco. I have delt with Wiseco in dirtbikes and ATV's before and they were good in those. I know i need forged, but whaat is stock GSR compression? I want to stay with that, so when the turbo is on there will be less lag. And while It's off I still have around the same amount of power (Except for the little HP I will get form bore and sleeve.)

Rods - I've heard Golden Eagle is the best.
Sleeves - Golden Eagle

What bearings need to be replaced? What brands are good? Also I think I should step up to a thicker headgasket. I was going to use a block guard but heard they are more trouble than help. Rings is something is I do not know about.

Bear with me while choosing internals.

Pistons - Stock gsr comp ratio is 10:1
Any new piston set should include quality rings.
Quality brands include: JE, Wiseco, Arias, CP, Ross and various other custom made
privately branded ones ( ie Importbuilders, Endyn)

Rods: I don't believe GE makes rods.
Quality brands include: Crower, Probe, Eagle, Manley as well as privatley branded
ones such as Full-Race, OmniPower and Rocket Motorsports.

Sleeves: Darton, Benson, GE, and many others.

While you have the engine apart I would replace all of the bearings with ACL or OEM Honda bearings ( Rods, Mains, and Thrust bearings)

I would not worry about the headgasket -- If you are changing to a thicker headgasket, you will lower compression, something you said you wanted to avoid. If you do want to lower it, do it with your new pistons.

I really hope that helps out.
You'll have to do research to determine the brands you want to use.
Opinions are like ******** on H-T.

Yes , Eagle Rods is what I meant and I will probaly be going with JE pistons, if not then Wiseco. How much should a bore and resleeve cost with parts included? Around $900? I will replace All bearings that Madness mentioned. Also I wanted the thicker headgasket because i thought they were safer for turbo. I will just use a Cometic one stock thickness.

The reason thicker headgaskets are "safer" is because they lower your compression

So I need a est cost.

I will need:

Eagle Rods -
JE or Wiseco 10:1 Pistons (83mm or 84.5mm) -
ACL Bearings -
Cometic Headgasket -
Golden Eagle Sleeves -
Bore and Sleeve Press Job -

I will update that list as I find more stuff and prices.

Rods- 250.- 400.

Pistons- 400. +/-

ACL bearings- 100$

Cometic Headgasket- 125$

Sleeves from GE- 851$

Other misc bullshit you would never think of - 1000$

Have fun, if you aren't good with detail...i'd recommend paying someone.

I am doing the same thing, now think of buying one assembled, but i want to know it was done right and best of all done by me (ok, maybe done a little wrong too , hopefully not!)

just cause you say its safer doesn't mean its the right way to do it

sleeve and bore is around 1000, you will be fine using an oem gasket

Where would be the best place to send the block off for boring?....But now that I see that this will be 1000 just for that i may just stick with 1.8L of displacement. There isnt really a HUGE difference in power is there?
