much fun was had. Thanks to Phat-S, Crack Monkey, .RJ, and I hope Knestis did ok in the enduro, I didn't stick around long enough to find out the results.

I am exhausted, and very happy. The only things that went wrong with the car the whole weekend are:

1- I am rubbing my brake ducts off with the wheels. Phatty helped with that.
2- I had a bad splice preventing the camera from working for the first day. Fixed.

I'll try to post some video next week maybe.

woo-hoo. Can't wait for the school at Summit.

Was this taken today (Feb. 20th) at VIR? If so, then you were running really strong, I'm impressed.

Congrats. Looks great, even the Darth Vader helmet and tinted shield match the car.

Got any pics closer to the apex? I'm just jealous 'cause my racecar sits in the garage on jack stands and I worked on family cars all weekend.

Is that an ITC car or ITA?

yeah, that was today. This was a weekend of firsts:

- first time in the car
- first time on R-compounds
- first time at VIR
- first time in group 3
- first time on any track in almost two years.

what a blast. Taking the uphill esses foot on the floor getting to over 100 by the top in fifth gear. wow. Then flooring it in Hogpen and drifting out onto the front straight was also all kinds of fun. I have the biggest ****-eating grin on my face you could imagine.

Let's not mention the dorifto action in 14a as I lifted (ahem) and had to hang on for dear life with the accelerator matted and some serious countersteering dialed in. fun in retrospect, after changing the underwear.
Let's also not mention almost losing in the left hook in the first session. the car snapped around so fast, it yanked the freaking wheel out of my hands. I still don't know how I stayed on track.

Morgan, I'm not a racer yet. I wasn't allowed to take the supercomp school due to the string of firsts that are mentioned at the top... But I'm taking the SCCA schools this year, so I'll eventually get a NASA license.

It's an ITA car, turning to F-prod next year probably. It's also an H4. Actually, it was built to H4 specs.

The car ran well, even though I short-shifted at 6k all weekend to break in the brand new engine. Next time, I'll let her rev a little more.

It was nice to meet you (and Hunter, Chad, Mr. Monkey, and the rest) over the weekend. Glad you had a good time!

do tell! how did the enduro go? how did you place in the sprint? or will you be creating a separate thread? It was great to finally put faces to a lot of ht people. Let me know when you start preparing for the 12 hours. Maybe I can finaggle some time away from the family to help out?

I've gotta keep that running at the WDCR school?

Congrat's to you and MF1 on the maiden voyage. So what kind of times were you turning by the end of the weekend?

no idea what the times were. I don't have a stopwatch in the car.

since i am off today, I'll try and take a look at the in-car footage. If I have a black tegger, I'll capture and post. but maybe not this week. I have a new computer and I need to install the video software...

thanks ya'll.

looking at some video, I saw a bunch of places where I am just leaving all kinds of time on the table. But it looks like one of my better laps with no traffic was 2:28 according to the cam.
About 10 seconds off the ITA record? I can see an easy 5 seconds that i am leaving in turn 1, in the uphill esses, oak tree and roller coaster.
I was waaayyyy late on the gas for turn one all weekend.
Even when I didn't lift before the esses, I would feather the gas back a little (the car felt very light and "floaty" I chickened out).
Oak tree I think I am starting to get better at, but I still slow down too much before roller coaster. I could probably get back on the gas at south bend a little earlier.
I'll post a lap for ya'll to critique and let me know if you think my assessment is close.

Oh, fine - you're already faster than me. I was pleased to squeeze a high 2:30 out of Pablo.

Ahem.
If he was running a best lap of 2:28 and rolled you, I know of another non-vtec Civic shitbox that would roll you. This one has 85hp and a 4 speed box.

Congrats Seabass. We'll work on that 8ish seconds you need, but not bad for a rusty driver on a new track in a new car. Not bad at all actually.

Scott, who'll pass on rolling RJ in the ITC car. I'm too nice to actually do it, but mean enough to point out that I probably could.

I had my daily driver 115,000 mile stock suspension blingmw out taking it easy and enjoying the ride - 100ish through the esses is still fun

RJ went from the lunchbox to the fake R(s) to the R to the german sled... he's losing it people... he is far removed from his days of roll'n people in his "lunchbox" talent ;-)... i think he is letting the cars do too much of the work for him these days :-P

RJ doesnt <3 Saturn racing anymore... i think that was his down fall. BTW he proved the doors dont bounce back.
