problem with b16 water pump change and timing belt!
okay I am so lost with all this stuff.. just went tol like 3 different shucks tried a couple different water pumps and timing belts and no combinations work except for the timing belts and the old water pump. the gear on the old pump is about 2.5" in diameter insdead of all the other pumps which are about 2.2" in diameter. this is a first generation B16A w/cable tranny. is there a smaller timing belt I need to get? or does anyone know what the bigger water pump gear is off of? or should I just reuse this old pump and clean it up a bit. it spins okay no probelms.
take off the pump and take it with you to the parts store. mine turned out to be the water pump from the 92 teg. the motor was a xsi. i just keep naming off car modles till they came out with the right pump. good luck
Sometimes if you ask for a 94-97 DOHC Del Sol VTEC waterpump they give you a SOHC VTEC pump which has a smaller pulley. Try getting one for a 92-93 integra GSR or a 99-2000 Civic Si. Both have b series VTEC engines and should use the same pump and belt.
if you went throught the trouble of taking the pump off, replace it. i think you are looking for a t-belt and water pump for a 94 del sol v-tec. try that and let me know because i am going to change my first gen b16 soon and i want to make sure those are the right parts.
Delsol SOHC had a totally different bolt layout, so that ones not even an option.
I looked at 90-91 Teg GS, all DelSol years/makes, TegGSR, all are wrong and have the under sized pully or a wrong bolt layout.

Well then I am out of suggestions. I used a 94-97 del sol dohc VTEC pump and belt on my 1st gen b16a. My buddy used a 1999 Civic Si pump and belt. i don;t know what to tell you. Did you look at the 99 si or the 92-92 integra GSR?
i ran into this exact problem a week ago. my friend has a "b16a" swap and we bought a 99si pump. wrong one, then we had to go to 10 different pep boys checkers and autozones cus according to them the 94-97 vtec and si del sol share the same pump. finally last chance we went to pep boys like 45min away from my house to find out they had a true 94vtec del sol pump.
as fucked up as it sounds all the systems here at my local pepboys arnt linked. this guy at the first store even pulled out a book to cross part numbers. way different from where we found the pump at.

ya straight up shucks is dumb about correct part numbers and crap... I finally found out that the engine importer where I got the engine has the water pump I need, its actually a japanese one made to fit the jdm integra, del sol and crx with b16 motors. yay. anyway thanks to all.

I had the same problem when i was replacing my ater pump for my B16a1. I finally ended up getting one from a 98 integra gsr and it was the right on with 22 teeth i believe. Every one i looked at from the DOHC Del Sol was 19 teeth and i was giving them the part # and everything. Good luck
