Can anybody give me some insight on a combo I see from time to time. I hear people talk about intake CTR/exhaust ITR or vice versa. Is there any advantage of doing this? I just picked up an EF9 (b16a1) and was going to get either CTR or ITR cams with a spoon headgasket (0.45mm/0.177"???). This is what is available locally but if sk2s1 is worth the shipping (I am in Japan) I will reconsider. Thanks in advance for any help.

The exhaust cams for the ITR and the CTR are the same.

The intakes however, are different.

I still believe you are looking at the 97-99ITR intake cam and not the 00-01. I am almost 100% postive the 00-01 itr intake cam is exactly the same as the ctr.

Yes, you are correct. From 00' on the ITR is the same as the CTR, so when you say that "the CTR is better than the ITR," you need to be specific about what years you are talking about. For the exhaust side...thats a different story. The exhaust cam is all the same. Back to the original topic, upgrading a B16a to a type r camshaft is a gaurenteed horsepower gain is very very cost effective, one of the best upgrades you can do

well according to this thread i found it is slightly different but you won't notice the difference at all from a 00-01 itr cam vs. ctr cam
