The CTR cams are infact better than the ITRs. The CTR intake cam opens 3 degrees earlier than the ITR.

Can anybody give me some insight on a combo I see from time to time. I hear people talk about intake CTR/exhaust ITR or vice versa. Is there any advantage of doing this? I just picked up an EF9 (b16a1) and was going to get either CTR or ITR cams with a spoon headgasket (0.45mm/0.177"???). This is what is available locally but if sk2s1 is worth the shipping (I am in Japan) I will reconsider. Thanks in advance for any help.

You are misinformed. Please do not so boldy state fiction as fact..it confuses the newer people who are not knowledgable enough to know that you are talking out of your ***

The exhaust cams for the ITR and the CTR are the same.
OPEN: 45° before BDC
CLOSE: 10° after TDC

The intakes however, are different.

CTR
OPEN: 18° before TDC
CLOSE: 45° after BDC

ITR
OPEN: 15° before TDC
CLOSE: 45° after BDC

I still believe you are looking at the 97-99ITR intake cam and not the 00-01. I am almost 100% postive the 00-01 itr intake cam is exactly the same as the ctr.

Yes, you are correct. From 00' on the ITR is the same as the CTR, so when you say that "the CTR is better than the ITR," you need to be specific about what years you are talking about. For the exhaust side...thats a different story. The exhaust cam is all the same. Back to the original topic, upgrading a B16a to a type r camshaft is a gaurenteed horsepower gain is very very cost effective, one of the best upgrades you can do

Im telling you from 2.5yrs on this site and tons of research that the 00-01 itrs are the same. I know its a fact, I dont have to prove it. If you want to waste 20minutes of your day search the archives, the truth(proof) is out there Moulder

you will be happy with the upgrade, just be sure to get a program, or tune the car so you can see the full benefits from a cam upgrade

well according to this thread i found it is slightly different but you won't notice the difference at all from a 00-01 itr cam vs. ctr cam
