Mcmaster carries both the big radius and short radius weld el's in mild steel, but only the big radius for stainless el's.

Anybody know where to get the tight radius stainless ones? Thanx abunch..

Here is an example... Pic stolen from cheapturbo

I dont see any tight radius on that manifold, i don't see anything bends on that manifold that mcmaster does not have.

Try these from mcmaster:
#43645K315 sch 10 1.5" 316
#45555K515 sch 40 1.5" 316

Although they are not listed as short radius, they are not. A STANDARD radius pipe elbow has a "takeout" that is 1.5 times the pipe size. So, 2" pipe has a 3" takeout. 4" pipe has a 6" takeout. 1.5" pipe has a takeout of 2.25".

If you don't know what takeout is, go to mcmaster's page on these elbows and they will have a drawing that shows this dimension.

Actually, I'll try and post the drawing here.

Also notice that the takeout measurement is the same for sch 10 and sch 40.

Can you give rates, service and selection better than McMaster?

If so, I will have to give you a shout next time I buy some stuff...

Me?

Yes, I've delt with quite a few members of this board and we are cheaper than McMaster, offer the same selection, have better customer service and attention to detail. Please feel free to IM me, email me, or call if you ever need anything.

There would be no real reason for him to be using 316 (compared to 304) unless it's in a very corrosive environment (ie..salt water etc). 304 would be perfect for his set-up and it is much cheaper than 316.

Engloid, thanx for the reference, but the part numbers/picture you referenced are the large radius elbows. Here is the size I am talking about:

That picture is hard to tell by, but all of their manifolds are using tight radius'd el's like the one above. I have held one in my hands. mbpwrx, do you carry this size in stainless?

We carry everything and anything in stainless. Please feel free to IM me and I'll give you a short company history along with a summary of the products we carry. We stock both long and short radius 90s and 45s in all sizes.

When you find out the price of the short radius one, you may decide to work with the standard radius. MSC lists the short radius elbows as 4 times as much money.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by ChainbreakR &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">That picture is hard to tell by, but all of their manifolds are using tight radius'd el's like the one above. I have held one in my hands.</TD></TR></TABLE>

MSC gets $48 a piece for a short radius elbow in 1.5".

However, if you take the part number off the drawing you posted, enter it in a search at McMaster, it pulls up the part at under $10. It seems odd that MSC would be that much higher. If you check into it and find out McMaster does stock them, as the drawing indicates, and at that price, let us know.

Would you mind posting up your prices on the different grades, radius, and schedules of 1.5" pipe? I dunno if your company allows it or what.. but seems the mods here shouldn't mind it...since it was requested.

Sounds good to me. I hope you don't mind but I'll have to wait until early AM tomorrow to post up a list. I have the prices with me, but I'd like to make it a complete list that includes both long and short radius 90s and 45s. I'll get the prices up ASAP!

In the mean time, please feel free to IM me for a quick quote.

MODS: Please don't delete this. Our company is very interested in advertising here in H-T. Tomorrow I will be using the link to sign up to either be a sponsor or an advertiser. Thank you for understanding.

What is MSC? And when you said they are getting 48 a piece for the short radius, are you talking stainless? Because, of course, the pic above was for mild steel...

Since I won't be able to post a full list until tomorrow, I figured I could give you guys some info about our company and what we offer our customers.

Our company, Ace Stainless Supply, has been around since 1981 and has been the one of the top distributors in the industry since day one. We have one of the world's largest and most diversified inventories and if we don't have it, we can get it.

We regularly stock (in large quantities) pipe, tubing, valves, fittings, flanges, couplings, sanitary fittings, plate, sheet, bar stock (round, square, hex, flat), angle, channel, all stainless hardware (nuts, bolts, gaskets, washers, etc), and chain just to name a few. We offer all of this material in Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Titanium, Super Alloys (hastalloy, inconel, monel, etc), and Carbon Steel.

Just for reference sake, we sell to John Force Racing (brake and fuel lines), TRD, and Saleen just to name a few in the automotive industry.

So as you can see, we don't just sell elbows and pipe. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to email, IM, or call. I'm here for you anytime.

We are able to ship from 7 major locations in the continental US. Santa Ana, Ca; Long Beach, Ca; Houston, TX; Chicago, IL; Atlanta, GA; New Jersey; and Tampa, FL.

Yes, the price I quoted was stainless. I didn't notice that the one above was mild steel. My mistake.

At MSCDirect.com... they show item #75767350. It is 304L, sch10 short radius, at $40.06. Item #75766733 is the same thing in long radius. It is $6.54. So, here we have a difference of $33.52 MORE for a short radius. So, if you have 8 elbows, it's over $320 more for short radius.

Are you guys seeing why short radius isn't used often?

I found something rather interesting....sanitary stainless, 1.5" TUBE, unpolished (cheaper), 90 elbow, for less than $10. http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/...44817

So who's gonna be the first to make a manifold out of that stuff? Price is nice, and cheaper than mandrel bends.
