A Maint Req light is just an idiot light that goes on every 7500 miles. It doesnt mean anything is wrong with the car.
A CEL means that something is wrong with the car. An error code can be pulled from a CEL.

There's a button under the dash, if you're holding it when you start the car, the light goes out. It will go back on 7,500 miles after that.
