Save your money and get something like an AFC or Uberdata if you are OBDI to tune for your application. Most of those chips advance timing and dump in more fuel, but without dyno time for your application, nobody can say wether or not they actually make power.

AFC and uberdata are not chips. AFC=air fuel controller and uberdata is a program that allows you to burn your own chips. tuning is not as easy as plugging in a chip. search uberdata or AFC, VAFC and you'll get a better idea.

The fact of the matter is that Honda motors don't gain much if any from a simple chip upgrade unlike other cars do.

the phone cable is for datalogging, and really the only reason it's useful is because it has usb on one end and the proper amount of wires on the other end. Plugs into the ecu, not the ostrich.

most chips are worthless. Once it gets a little warmer here, im going to take mine out and smash it with a hammer...

Like Ricey said, mostly they just modify the timing and fuel maps. The only reason you should try one is if A1) your current setup is running funny on the stock maps or A2) you're runing some sort of frankenstien setup, B) you *know* what is wrong (not enough timing, rich, etc), and C) you know what the new chip will be modifying (to fix your problems).

I introduced Uberdata to the guy who did my swap since he hooked my up with wholesale prices on some stuff. He's running a built CR-VTEC and had a chip that was almost what he wanted, except it needed rpm values and ign maps changed for vtec. It was fast before we retuned it...now it pulls like crazy even with his 240lb *** and me in the car.

Basicly - the stock ecu in closed loop mode will make adjustments up to 30% or so for optimal fuel ratios. Thats why on a tuned car a cheap A/F meter will jump around normally, but will seem pegged near 14:1 when in WOT. I can't remember exactly when, but at higher rpm's and WOT the stock ECU will break closed loop and read only the programmed maps to avoid problems (fyi honda ecu's are usually a bit rich).
