Welding two 2.5" flanges on the stock ITR Cat, will it help?

If I weld 2.5 inch or 60/65 mm flanges on both sides of the stock cat to match the JDM header and 2.5" catback, will it help the flow? Or is the core itself the real bottleneck.
With 2.5" flanges, the cat will be similar to the JDM ITR cat, right? Except for the length then. Or is the core of the JDM ITR cat also larger in diameter.
Has anyone tried this already?

Afaik the JDM is different compared to the EUDM, flow capacity is higher.
2,5" flanges will help (a little bit) but to increase the flow you need to get highflow cat.

i don' think flanges present the problem as much as the cat itself. carsound cat can be had for ~$50 before flanges.. and i think all of them are highflow.

I would like to get the Carsound if it was available here in Europe (and as cheap as in USA ofcourse). I think shipping is more than the cost of the cat itself.
standart 2.5" should be available at most local auto stores, or exhaust shops.. i think some exhaust shops may even carry spring bolt kit that would include the flange as well. otherwise, any jdm parts store will have them

inlinefour has them but i think they are like 20 bucks. I'm sure u can find them cheaper somewhere else.

While we are on this topic, does anyone know how long the JDM OEM ITR cat is?
I am going to be putting my JDM DC 4-1 header, T1R exhaust and a carsound 2.5" cat and was wondering how long the carsound cat should be. Someone who knows please share!
