Cant get my axles out of my DA
Well i am currently stripping my car for paint. The engine is ready to come out, but i cant get the axles out. I took all the bolts loose to get them out but for some reason i cant get the lower joint loose. Most of the time u hit it with a hammer and it comes loose but for some reason it didnt. Here are a few pics....

get yurself a prybar and put all your weight on it, prying in between the knuckle and control arm, get a freind to hammer on that sucka. Suck it up princess, smash that **** like its osama!! also soak it in WD40, penetrating oil, anything you might have.

Their is a instructional video of how to separate the ball joint using just a ratchet. I think the way it's done is by placing the butt end of the ratchet between the lower control arm and ball joint and then stomping on it or something?
you can use a long socket i usually use a 13mm 14mm or 15mm and wedge it between the spindel and control arm and then hammer the control arm
Don't waste your time with a hammer. and smashing your castle nut. Go buy an air hammer with pickle fork adapter for like $35 for a cheap one. With this is will take you like 5-6 seconds to seperate. Also faster way is to not even take apart the ball joint but disconnect the LCA and swing it out. The take a pickle for and gently tap between tranny housing and axle to pry the axle out (don't waste your time with a flat head screw driver this method works occasionally and leaves you with busted up knuckes). Also the air hammer with help with removing the axle from the hub also (using the pointed end). If you don't have a compressor go a get a nice pickle fork set.

first of all, forget using pickle forks, hammers, sledgehammers, batons, and your weiner to break it loose. you'll just end up breaking stuff.
taking apart your suspension sucks when you don't know how to get the lower balljoint loose. the fastest, easiest , non-damaging way to get your lower balljoint off of the lower arm is this:
1.) put the car on jackstands, take off the wheel, remove the pin and castle nut holding the lower balljoint. spray some p.b. blaster
2.)jack up the suspension by the rotor just until you start to see the car lift off the jackstand.
3.)insert a 1/2" craftsman ratchet, or anything similar that fills the space (i've used a pipe before) in between the knuckle holding the lower balljoint, and the lower control arm.
4.)lower the jack slowly, making sure that the object you used is in place and applying pressure to the lower control arm.
5.)if the balljoint hasn't popped free by the time the jack is fully lowered, give it some encouragement by kicking the rotor down with your foot.
*SNAP!*
now take out the axle (i hope you loosened the axle nut while the car was still on the ground)

Just did mine today.....use a blow torch and heat up the lower control arm area but make sure not to burn the rubber seal....then lightly hit the control arm with a hammer and pow...comes loose

**** that lower joint, you dont have to take it out! take out the two upper control arm bolts, swing the upper part down, looks like you already got the shock fork off, so after you take off the upper control arm, just pry out the axle and manuever it around till it comes out. I honestly have never needed to take out that lower control arm joint, i always use this method and its suuuuper quick and easy! just did my axles today and took me about 1 hour (half the time, i was looking for my tools)

I've done the ratchet method, and personally, i think my way is easier, but thats just me.

are you making sure the lower control arm is LEVEL when you attempt to separate that part of the suspension? Put a jack under the control arm and then try hammering or lifting it.

. Anyone else have any more ideas?
