i have your normally loud 2nd gen b16. it is driving me crazy and i am wanting to put a jackson on it but i am wanting to get the valvetrain done first. who makes the best springs and retainers? i know toda makes springs but all i could find were the ones on jhp and they sound like they are meant for their cams and i really dont want to swap cams so they are out for right now.

i dunno there was a guy that posted earlier (about a month) that had a valve drop and smash his piston and he was running all skunk valve train. it seems though every one speaks up after something like that. i will be running stock cams forever, i really like the power band. if something happens i will probably through in ctr or itr cams

you think i should buy the skunk retainers too? i have the tool to do it on the car do you think i should go ahead and jerk my head and look at my valves and pistons while i am at it?
if your taking the head off you might as well look at the pistons how many miles do you have on the motor also another choice would be supertech they were used in the Import tuner B series motor shoot out back the the December 04 issue by R&D and the they won by about 30hp but there were other aspects that helped that and they are alittle cheaper then skunk 2

im not worried about the price. i need the reliability so what ever anyone proves better will be the choice, this car is daily driven. it has 30,000+ it is in my eg. i don't need to take the head off, but do you think it is a good idea. My other problem is it smokes a little at high rpm. Not a lot but like i start to notice the sut if i haven't washed my car in like a month. In the summer you can't even tell cause i wash it like once a week but i think i am getting float with the chatter, so that is what i wanting to fix
For your case I would seriously look into the Omni springs and retainers. they don't have that much spring preasure, which would work out awesome for your stock cams. Also the springs snap in place onto the retainer. When running force-induced motors this can become a very serious issue. With them snapping in place, this will prevent valvetrain wear. Another spring/retainer combo would be Rocket Motorsports. Thats what I am running, but I have much bigger cams and higher revs(all motor). Do the Omni's man, you won't be dissapointed!
