Default Good collector design? Why or why not?

How's this for a header design? It is from a 200 whp 1.3L GT5 SCCA Racecar, think it's a design worth building? What is that collector style called?

Thanks

D.

im taking a long shot here, but that header might be a requirement for that class and not optimal for performance

I think SMSP is making a one peice header for b-series that mimicks that header very closely. It may not be SMSP, but I remember one of the premier custom header makers is coming out with something like that.

Dave has indeed recently re-introduced his one piece B-series header, but it doesn't resemble the one pictured in this thread. A header that packaged all 4 primaries side by side wouldn't fit within a Honda's oil pan shape.

I'm going to say they call that collector "Needed for ground clearance".

I remember seeing the header I was describing (whether or not its Dave's) and I remember seeing it clear the oil pan (not by much) and clearing the lower tranny area (by even LESS).

It was a TIGHT squeeze. I cant seem to find the header by searching under SMSP. Can someone see if I missed something and help me search?

None of SMSP's headers are a flat four across 4-1 design. If you did indeed see such a design, it wasn't one of his. I would be extremely interested in seeing the header you're referring to once you locate it, because unless the primaries are exceptionally small in diameter, there's really no way they are going to clear on a Honda motor using this configuration.

I should have been more clear. Its not that I cant find the "wide collector" header made by SMSP. Its that I cant find the post made by SMSP telling about his new header, period. I must have seen the "wide collector" header somewhere else and blurred it all together, but I would still like to see the new SMSP just to see it. Searching is wacky as of late, though.

Room is not of a concern, I want to know if it's a decent design for a collector. It was not built to either a "spec" or for ground clearace, I believe it was built for power, but I want to know why.
