ngk spark plug wires
I was wondering whether or not spark plug wires makes any improvements with respect to power. A guy today sold me a set of ngk wires for 80 cdn for a b16a (NGK 9775) but since I don't have a b16a yet I opted to see if the wires would install on my d16a. Coincidentally the wires almost fit exactly with wires 1 and 2 being about 2 inches too long and wire 4 being ever so slightly too short. To make a long story short I installed them without incident on the d16a6 and took it for a drive. The first thing I noticed was that the car seemed to run a bit better. Strangely it felt as if the car had more torque.
My factory wires have about 167, 000km's on them and are in excellent condition. When does honda recommend to replace them? I've only seen 2 sets of wires in my lifetime actually fail so I'm skeptical on replacing/upgrading wire sets.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks

The only time they'll improve power is if your old ones are worn out and are starting to build resistance or shorting to the valve cover or something.
The USDM/CDM NGK wires have more resistance in them then OEM! Use only OEM wires, unless you get a wire that has alot less resistance like 50 ohms per foot. JDM NGK's are great but expensive! The high ohms in the USDM NGK's will cause extra heat build up in the ignition system, and can cause a loss in hp and premature wear on ignition parts. Their ohms are some where around 4,300 ohms per foot!!!
i measured my stock wires and they come in between the range of 8-12 kilo-ohms.
Didn't measure the ngk ones but I will have to measure tommorrow.
Thanks
