at least i think that's what they are called. they look like the clear euro tail lights but its black inside instead of chrome and clear all over. i'm looking for pics and also somewhere online where i might be able to buy them.....

I would advocate working on the engine before putting money into altezzas, but it's your lude.

 

for awhile i wanted to make it faster, put more money into the engine, but then i got a reckless driving ticket and my perspective changed. i'm content with how fast my car is now, so now i just wanna make it look a little better....the paint is starting to fade, so i'm gettting a paint job in april....also saving for some wheels....

i'm not out to race anymore...silly as that may sound on a site like this, but that's just the way things are for me right now.....

 

paints fading already on a 5th gen?

 

yeah....it sucks...i bought it used ....i live on the east coast in virginia beach....the paint looked good when i bought in 2000, but about 6 months ago it started to fade, first on the bumpers...now spreading up the sides.....i wash and wax her regularly....buff it maybe twice a year.....

it doesn't help that its red either...

i took it to a body shop and the paint guy said that hondas come from the factory with the minimum amount of clear coat on them....i dunno....thats what he said at least....he painted my friends 240SX, custom job, and it looks really good.....i wanna keep it red. he says that after he paints it he puts on two to three times the normal amount of clear coat on than factory....says it wont fade....

anybody out there with paint job stories that can shed some light on this??

I know that red paint is a bitch to match. I have a friend with a san marino red GSr and his kit doesn't match his car. In most places it's fine, but where it's faded badly you can tell. So if you plan on adding a body kit, spoiler, lip, etc make sure you get all of that on before you repaint the car.

I just have one question for you, I don't care for the lights, I think they look alright but I wouldn't put it on my car either but who cares...my question is, you said you got a reckless driving ticket and that got you thinking how your car's power output is good enough for you for now and that you don't want to race anyone anymore...are you talking about street racing or autocrossing, drag racing and track racing...basically, legal racing as oppose to illegal racing. Please explain, thanks.

 

I'm pretty sure he didn't get a reckless driving ticket at a road race.

 

If I am correct, and Opi please let me know if I am wrong, but his reckless driving ticket was for going 95 in a 65 on the intersate.

 

yeah, the Milano Red seems to fade easily... my father had a 95 4G VTEC that faded a bit even though it was garaged all the time and was waxed regularily... i think it's one color Honda couldn't produce a durable paint for or something...

 

My 95 Milano Red Teg is faded on the rear bumper and deck....also to get the paint to match it takes about a 5 step painting process w/ different paints, go to carquest and see, and maybe if your cars not red it may help you from getting noticed by the cops, also why stop dragging or auto-xing if you get a ticket?

 

I like the stock taillights. If you want them clear, just remove the plastic amber piece...
