Default Realtime Racing 2005 lineup

This may be of interest on here. Does this mean nissan is out?

RealTime Racing Reveals Five-Car SPEED Touring Car Lineup, New Look
Written by: RACER staff
Saukville, Wis. – 2/18/2005 New paint schemes for the RealTime Acuras this year.

RealTime Racing, the most successful team in the history of SCCA Pro Racing’s SPEED World Challenge Touring Car series, will put five Acuras on the track at each of the 2005 season’s 11 races.

“Our goal this year is to win an unprecedented fifth manufacturers’ championship for Acura, and a ninth drivers’ championship for RealTime Racing’s drivers,” said team manager Nathan Bonneau.

To achieve the dual goals, RealTime is fielding three Acura TSX cars and a pair of RSXs, all equipped with Acura’s A-SPEC performance and handling package.

Two of the TSX performance sedans will be driven by SPEED World Challenge veterans Peter Cunningham and Pierre Kleinubing, who rank first and second in series career wins and fastest qualifier categories, having earned a collective 49 victories and 54 pole positions.

They will be joined in a third TSX by 19-year-old Denver University freshman Brandon Davis, who made three starts for RTR last year and will be gunning for the 2005 top rookie prize. Returning RTR team members Eric Curran (1999 SCCA American Sedan National Champion) and Nick Esayian (2004 SPEED Touring Car fourth highest rookie) will race the Acura RSX entries.

“We’ve already had three test days since the end of the 2004 season, and there will be two more before we get to Sebring in March,” Bonneau noted. “This is the strongest lineup RealTime Racing has ever had, and that excites us.”

“Pierre is a known quantity in World Challenge racing,” team principal Cunningham added. “It would be difficult to remember a race where he wasn’t a major factor.

“Eric made a great teammate in 2003, and last year both Nick and Brandon showed a lot of potential,” he added. “This isn’t the first time RealTime has run five Acura Touring Cars – we did that in 2000 and 2001 – but this is the deepest talent pool we have ever had.”

The RealTime Acuras have been noted for their eye-catching neon orange & white paint schemes since 1997, but even that has been upgraded for 2005.

“We’ll still use the same color combination,” Cunningham said, “but otherwise it’s a brand-new look, yet unmistakably a RealTime Acura.”

The 11-race schedule for the Touring Car Championship begins March 16-18 at Sebring, Fla.

I thought last year was the last year for Team RTR and Nissan. I forgot the details of it though.

Rad! I guess that means I'll be getting 3 X adjustable Motons, adjustable roll bars and a host of springs as part of the A SPEC package. What a bunch of marketing BULLSHIT. Amazing they can print an outright lie.

Maybe they're using the extra a-spec package parts for ballast?

I was thinking the same thing. I can't imagine that's a bought ride.

What was the name of the guy in the 2nd TSX last year? Plumb? Is that right? He even won a race last year I believe. Why wouldn't they have him back?

HE did more than win a race he was in near the top of the standing for most of the year I find it wierd that they would not have him back.

I don't find this weird at all. That's just how it works. The way I see it, Realtime already have their two drivers who will be going for the driver's championship, and it's very expensive for a team to afford two such drivers. Eric Curran who is also good is there as a backup and to get additional points for the manufacturer's championship. The other two imho are there to help subsidize paying the bills for this year.

What would be weird to me would be if all 5 drivers had extensive racing resumes attached to their names because then who would be left to help pay the bills?

Good luck to Realtime. Should be fun to see if they can take down Bill in the BMW.

Plumb did a good job for real time last year but the owner of RTR is back behind the wheel an acura, sad to see the nissan go it was a good looking car, either way can't wait to see the new paint scheme at lime rock, good luck to them in taking out the BMWs.

Which is exactly where PD belongs. He started ice racing a first gen CRX back in the day, then moved onto 2nd gen integras, 4th gen Preludes, NSXs, ITRs, and now in the TSX. PD and Honda go together like peas and carrots.
