A6 piston questions......HELP ME PLEASE

Default A6 piston questions......HELP ME PLEASE

hey guys....im going to run the mini me setup in my 91 Crx Si....i have a Z6 head, (complete)...and im going to use my stock A6 block...the problem is that it burns oil....a little while ago, i got my stock A6 head fully rebuilt, then installed it....the next day or so, my car was burning a lot of oil!.....i took it to a mechanic and he said that i need piston rings....is this TRUE???....and if it is true, would it be ok to just replace the pistons as well as the rings too????.......would i need anyother parts like...(oil pump, bearings, rods, etc etc...)...i just want the car to run nice and not have any problems......im not building a race car....so PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD HELP ME OUT!!....thanks guys!

Depending on the condition of everything, you would need to run new rings, and get a hone on the cylinders for sure.

and would a machine shop do this??...or does have to be a specific place??

Hone yes, replacing the rings and parts, no. You could do that if you wanted, but if not, a shop can do it.

is it expensive to hone them??....and i got this question......do you think i should keep my A6 block and fix the rings, and pistons?....or should i buy a d15b vtec block and use that with my z6 head???....i am so confused rite now...lol

No it isn't. Cost me a little less than $50. Keep in mind I dissessembled the block completely (you can't hone the block, well you can but its not the correct way, with all the components in the block). I've heard neumorous things about the a6 block. Its supposidly the best D series application because of its equniqueness.(sp?)... Its up to you on what you want to do. If I were you, seems like your in a budget here, find a block which holds good compression and or has low milage, use that. You can use the d15b block(theres good things about that aswell). Find a good block and slap which ever vtec head on it you want.
