CA: Officially been Bar'ed by State Ref:.
Yeah boi, after months of working on the all the nick nack on the car, finally took it in today at 7:10am and pass the CA state Ref: inspections, the first time. Actually this is the second time I am there because the first time I went there they did not inspected due to a leak in the radiator.
Anyways to make this thread Technical here is what I Did:
MOD:
96 Civic Hatch back
96 Interga LS Motor
What I needed/Had:
00 LS CAT (any OEM cat wil work)
2 O2 sensor
94+ LS Intake Car and Box
Filled all my Fluid
Check my Timming
If your car is to low, you should go in with bigger size rims or else it will not fit onto the dyno machine.
Here is what happen at the inspection:
1. Came in at 7:10.
2. Pull my car in and the did a visual inspection of the car and check all the fluid
3. Pull the car onto the dyno machine and ran it at 15mph. Then Ran it at 25mph, then at a much higher speed. (15mpn is the hardest test, if you pass the 15mpn then you will pass the rest. So if you see the ref shift, you know your okay)
4. Pull my car down from dyno and check for all emission equipement (intake, Evap sensor, O2 sensor
5. Then he give me a print out and slap on my BAR sticker on the door jam.
What I learn:
No need to go to the dealership to have your ECU code pull to make sure it match the motor because their system should tell them that.
The did not check the VIN number on of my New Motor
The bar sticker does not reference the Vin# of the new motor with the VIN# of the car anywhere. Bottom line is I can swap in a new motor in there and stick go get it legally smog at the ref.

OH yes. That was one thing that check too is the fuel tank and the Gas Cap. I think my car already had a sensor in there since it was OBDII so I don't need to put one it. YOu may have add that in there.
Congrats and welcome to the club!
Again, which ref did u go to? I went to Contra costa college my last time and they didnt ask for ECU paper work. I hear that Alameda college does now.

Thier system is not accurate when it comes to telling them what ECU should be used for what engine. Point in case, my friends 88 CRX SI passes with a chipped P28 on a JDM B16. Why did it pass? Well, the system told them a P28 was the right ecu. Not the first time I have heard this crap either. In this case, you need a printout from the dealership to correct them...
BTW: they use Alldata.

Just like any other car, every 2 years.

When I got mine BAR'd I swapped the ecu casings of a b18c5 with a P2T from a Civic SI. ITR ecu's have an immobilizer that can only be taken out by the dealer which will charge you and you'd need to show proof that you own the car. Some shop can just take out the immobilizer but you'll have a CEL on forever. By just using the casing from a P73 and using any ecu board, you can pass with flying colors. The ref I went to didn't run the ecu code. He just went to see if it's a P73.
congrats bro!!!

i know i have to get a cat n air box, im going to use my stock eg cat, oh yea i have a 92 hatchy dx.

As long as you have the the EVAP, CAT, O2 and the right ECU you should be find.

I don't have any emissions on my 1965 Stang either. Thats pretty much the way it is anywhere with the older verhicles.
