I currently have a magnaflow muffler on my 92' accord ex, and its way to loud for me. When i got the muffler i didnt think that it will be this loud, its unreasonably loud. I want to get rid of it and get a new one but im not sure what to get, i want something that sounds good ofcourse but i dont want it to be that loud. If anyone can suggest a muffler i will appreciate it. thanks

P.S. its the just the muffler, not the whole cat back system

 

IMO Best sound you can get out of your exhaust comes with this setup:

Header of choice, custom 2.5" piping all the way back, and your stock muffler.

Good power gains too

 

If you can afford it the Greddy SP2 cat-back would be the way to go, but of course running custom piping and your stock muffler will probably be queiter.

It's really just more of a throaty, low rumble

 

Thermal R&D cat back..... best there is! IMO

 

If you put a 4 inch wide (outlet) greddy muffler on a stock accord would it decrease your power?

 

go to the magnaflow website and listen to the sound clips they have there on different cars with different models

I'm assuming that the rest of your exhaust piping is going to remain unchanged... You will not see a power loss, nor will you really see any kind of gains.

 

I have a flowmaster on my 90 accord. It is great, it doesn't make too much noise. You can hear clips on their website. It also has the stock rectangle shape for the sleeper look

 

correct me if im wrong...but your stock should have a resonator (pretty much a glasspack) right after the cat. if you take that out and replace it with a longer glasspack (you should have room before the 90 around the fuel tank) then it would help a lot. glasspacks are cheap too and it wouldnt cost that much to have a muffler shop cut out and weld it in. let me know what you think

Leave the flows to the stangs

 

Hey thats not true. Flowmaster gave my car some good torque increase and again it has that stock look and not too much of a loud noise but more of a rumble in the idle like my mustang used to have.

Good torque increase, huh? Is that what the ad said?

 

For me, I don't mind the loud rumble sound. What bugs me is those loud farting sound some crappy 'performance' mufflers puts out. Rather than a low and deep rumble sound, it sounds like there's a hole in the muffler and it's loose... Results in a rattling farting sound... Seen a lot of those on ricers locally.
