Default shipping an exhaust?

how have some of you done this? how much did it cost? which shipping company did you use? a hytech exhaust is getting shipped to me and the guy was saying that for custom packaging and shipping it would run around 300$!!! granted the b-pipe in the hytech is this massive 1 peice but how does internet companies ship it for less than half of that?

if anyone has information as to how to get an exhaust shipped in the cheapest manner, please let me know so I can inform my seller. thanks

Even with the UPS oversized surcharge and appropriate insurance, I would estimate your shipping charges to be under $100 (anywhere in the 48 states).

So $300 is really not reasonable at all

john@hytech charged me 110$ to ship a header and the TL exhaust. 300 is ridiculous.

The thing to do is NOT box it. Wrap it like crazy in bubblewrap and tape. I did box the muffler part but I think it was only ~$20 to send the bpipe.

Bubble wrap, tape, etc.

I sent two stock exhausts (boxed the axle back) and wrapped the bpipe seperately as stated above... about 35-40 each time.

yes this is very very true.....Bubble wrap that thing and use some good tape and you'll be golden, for way less then what it would cost you to send in box!

I had an exhaust shipped to me for 170$ thru ups ground from the east coast. The bpipe was 1 piece which was categorized as oversized. Most 3 piece exhaust can be shipped for less than 50$

Edit: No reason to further this, good luck w/ getting your exhaust shipped. FWIW I shipped the T1R w/ FedEx for about $18.
