More power (NA): cam or ecu tuning
I'm looking at the price of both a stage 2 cam and ostrich/wb setup (tuned with uberdata), and they're roughly the same for what i want. I'm wondering which is going to provide more power, or be more useful. I dont have a vafc, so the ecu tuning would at least allow me to change my vtec point for better acceleration. Car is NA with I/H/E.
Also, on a different note, as far as uberdata goes, am i going to have to have a switch for FTL, or will it be able to automatically turn it on if my car is below a certain rpm?

Im guessing its your Del Sol right? With a z6? Honestly both things you ask wont do **** without the other. Its pointless to tune a stock motor with only I/H/E and its pointless to run Stage 2 cam without tuning it. The Stage 2 will give you power but not max power, you get it? They both need each other in a sense.
FTL? Do you mean 2 step launch control? If so thats activated by a button.

Yea, z6 sol.
Hmm, someone had mentioned it's always good to tune your car...and i know i read about cams adding like 20+ hp. Plus, like i mentioned, earlier vtec activation.
And yea, two step launch...i know they had it so that it was activated by the ac switch, but i think i remember somewhere that they made it so that it could be used any time your car was below a speed that you set. I dont know why you would want to turn it off...i suppose if you havent tuned your car since you put in a mod that you would want to rev higher with... *shrug*

I/H/E isnt something worth tuning. Max youll get is probably 5+ whp. with a stock motor. Now put the cam in and tune it you could get 20 whp (all depending on how its tuned and who tunes it of course).
But then again dont expect to much off of a mostly stock motor, after all its stock.
Usually you want a later VTEC crossover. You want a VTEC crossover where torque and hp cross. Thats usually the best spot.
I think the way you think of 2 step could only be done with a full stand alone, like AEM EMS and such. But dont quote me on that, from what i remember Uberdata/Hondata both use switches.

horsepower and torqe always cross at 5200 RPM's.. from my experience that always seems to be where they meet..
but seriously you cannot get a cam and just pray that itll work. you gotta tune it to get the best results.
Getting a cam and not tuning it is like getting a turbo kit without a blow off valve. its needed.

Get the cam first then the ECU. The cam should help out, look to see a slight increase in power but not its full potential. ECU Tuning should definitely unlock the potential of your mods, assuming whoever is your tuner knows what hes doing.
get a regrind,
like a deltacam or something,
they're so cheap, you could afford both the cam and the tuning!
that would be the best for sure.
thing is, they go hand in hand.
the more mods you have, the better the cam will work for you.
and the more mods you have, the more you will receive from tuning!

WTF? You don't NEED a BOV with a turbo.
If that were the case every OEM turbo application would have one. I can't think of a single Volvo with a BOV. LOL

I've heard you dont need a BOV until you get like 17 or 20+ psi
Not to many hondas running that i bet

I would if I owned an automatic.
