My baby just died and im very very sad.
I was driving to school just like any other die, no crazy rpms or speeding. No downshitfing at wrong times, nothing outta the blue, ordinary driving. So I pull into my school's parking lot, someone in front of me stopped, so naturally I step on the clutch and brake.
All of a sudden, my car starts shaking. Im kinda disturbed. Car in front moves. I so I put it in first and pull around a corner. Im ready to shift into second, step on the clutch (all the way down), and i cant pull it outta first even with the clutch pedal in. So I pull into a parking spot and put my foot down on the clutch,no feet on gas or brake, and my car starts moving forward like it's in gear...This is bad, very bad.
I thought it would go away after starting the car up later. So I go to school and then a few hours later get ready to leave, start the car, and it's shaking. And it still pulls forward when "out of gear" Towed it to the dealer and my dad authorized all the repairs on it. The dealer thought the shaking was due to an old flywheel, and the shifting problem due to the clutch being old and bad (184,000). So $1500 later with a new clutch and flywheel, the dealer calls and its still doing the same problem.
We're towing my car to a family friends auto shop and hes going to assest the situation. I think it's the transmition. Can the mechanic rebuild my exsisting tranny? Im so mad, I have to drive my dad's 94' pathfinder

$1500 dollars for a clutch and flywheel!!! LOL, you guys need to learn how to work on your own cars. You got raped by that shop. I bought a new act clutch for like 200 and resurfaced the flywheel for 20 bucks. That's 220 for what you got for $1500, I feel sorry for you. Big
to paying someone to work on your car.

Ok, here's what people should have been telling you.
If the clutch and flywheel were not the problem....The DEALER MECHANIC DID NOT FIX WHAT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO. You are now out $1500 for something that was not needed!!!! If you specifically asked the dealer to "fix the shaking" then that's what shouldve been done. This is a common ILLEGAL practice amongst mechanics. I hope you have an estimate or paper saying what the problem was. It seems the 1500 does not concern you?? In any case, get a lawyer and have that dealer fix your problem subtracting the 1500 you already paid. A mechanic can't just start replacing different kinds of parts and scratch his head afterwards saying he gave it his best shot, pay up for what ive attempted. HELL NO

I'm not one for throwing a fit, but **** That ****!
You need to go back to that mechanic and kick his ***. This is the exact reason why I don't go to fucktard mechanics and have them work on my car. Your dad should know better too! No offense. Don't go to someone else. He needs to fix what he started. He needs to refund the labor he charged to "try" to fix your car, then he needs to actually fix the problem.

My dad is a mechanic and i am working on being one too, so dont bash mechanics in general, there are some good ones (my dad). like just recently he was working on a car and the engine was making a clicking sound, so he spent probably 2 grand on stuff and he couldnt find the problem (long story), so he replaced the engine and it worked just fine. So he raped himself out of 2 grand but he did that so he could keep that customer and his rep. So yeah it is fine if you bash certain mechanics who screw people out of stuff, but dont group them all in to one group.

PROPER DIAGNOSIS IS KEY. You dont pay **** if they didn't fix the problem. Look on the work order. What were the symptoms u gave them? Do those symptoms still exist? I think they do after reading this thread.

Does the shift lingake move at all in or out of gear? Does it have oil in it?
If the tranny is stuck in gear, and won't come out, that would be a 100-150 tranny. Your dad should teach you how to replace the tranny. I did my first swap in high school in my auto shop. Great learning experience.
But yea, 1,500$ is alot. What I payed for my Si. Twice what I'm getting an HF for this weekend. My brother took his (86 CRX Si) to a shop and had his clutch replaced. It was 650 for parts and labor. Never say I authorize all exspenses either.
Mista Bone may have a better answer.
