Rubber mounting in car camera????
Hi
I'm about to make a camera mount to go in a EF rally car and was wondering weather or not people rubber mount the cameras in their car. I was thinking of putting a 5mm thick sheet between the camera and the mounting plate, not big rubber bushes or anything!!

My ioport mount uses a 3/4" (19mm) or so thick urethane bushing which seems to work pretty well. The bushing is situated between the the plate that bolts to the roll cage and the arm that bolts to the camera, not between the camera and the mount. My video comes out virtually vibration free. My camera does have image stabilization though. I have heard that urethane is better than rubber at dampening the high frequency vibrations that travel through the roll bar, so you may want to think about using that instead. Camera mounts are so cheap ($70 - 100) that it hardly seems worthwhile to make one unless you just want to do it for fun.
