Default Actual Width of Kumho Ecsta MX?

I am about to buy another set of tires for my SE-R, but wanted to be clear about a few things before I place my order.

Right now I have a set of 205-50-15 kumho ecsta supra 712's on the car. With these tires there is less than a 1/2 inch of clearance between the side wall and rear strut tube. I know that many of the "max performace" tires tend to be a bit wider than most others rated at the same width. For Example https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=163023 . I really can not afford to buy extended studs and spacers so i need to know if you guys think ill have rubbing problems with the MX's in the same size as the 712's(205-50-15)?

I know you guys really only care about threads with pics, so here is a usless one just to attract some attention

Mine measured out to 214mm on a 6.5" rim.

Did the sidewall bow out any further than the 214mm measurement when mounted on the 6.5" rim?

EDIT: What i am asking is if you would consider your measurement one of tread width or section width. I thought that may clear things up a bit.

According to the data at tirerack.com the MX is supposed to be .1" wider than the same size 712. I don't know how well this translates to reality but I would guess it to be reliable.

I had read that as well, but was not sure how accurate their measurements would be. I am going to measure my 712's when I get home just to make sure. Thanks for the help guys. Hopefully the SE-R will be a bit more sticky with the new rubber.

They're fairly straight on a 6.5 there's a little hangout, but the sidewall is fairly square to the tire, no noticable balloon effect.....
8 5/8" comes out to 219mm, so the extra 1/2" of rim only added about .2" to the overall width of the treadblock. Somewhere in there lies the true number.

I've got a 1992 Sentra SE-R too. I have 15x7" +35mm ATS Comp Lites with the 205/50/15 Azenis, which are slightly wider than the 205 width MXs . There is no rubbing at all on my SE-R on the inside.

My wheels have a +40mm offset so im working with a little bit less room than you. By the way I love the look of the ATS wheels on the classics, good choice.

My SE-R has the same wheels as the "other Andrew".. with Kumho MXs.

Lowered 1.5", I had to keep the rear negative camber less than -0.7° in order to clear my 8611s. FWIW.

The Andrew.

Not sure if this helps, but I have the 205/50/15 mx's on my 89 crx, w/ 15x6.5 rotas (don't know offset, sorry), and otherwise stock suspension. I also have the MX's on my 92 miata w/ 15x7 wheels (35 offset), Koni/GC's. No rubbing at all on either car. On 15x6.5 wheels, they stick out a lot more. On 15x7, they seem to fit tighter. Never made any actual measurements, but they do look wider than the 205/50/15 712's i used to have. The MX are almost as wide as my prev set of azenis (which did rub, when they were on my eg hatch).

I will be putting on another set of 205/50/15 on my ek w/15x7 (43 offset) wheels. I'm having the fenders rolled for that, since i'll be using 225/50/15 RA-1's as well anyhow.

I got the tires and they fit. They are a bit closer than the 712's but should be ok.
