Crazy Tachometer
Hey everyone. I have a 92 honda civic lx 4dr sedan. My tachometer goes nuts when I drive the car. This randomly occurs when ever it feels like it. I have had this problem before. Last year the same thing happened. Eventually my car started to go to zero rpm's and wanted to shut off. My distributor had died. I replaced it, however, months later I still have the same problem. Anyone have an idea what this could be?

So is this an engine or a tach problem? Does the RPMs of the motor fluctuate, or is it just the tach?

before you buy anything make sure its not a loose ground. Check your grounds and make sure they are clean and tight (frame rail, valve cover, thermostat). If everything looks good then what i would do is swap out your gauge cluster with a friends to see if thats your problem, before blowing money.
