WeightReduction:
dont look for a place to take out 100 pounds....look for 100 places to drop a pound. personally i said f the a/c took everything out and sold it....that was a good 30-35 pounds, 8 pounds flywheel, dust sheilds....carbon fiber replacement parts. lots of options just find a good place to start good luck
cut holes in bumper supports, take black **** off the floor, remove airbags, cut support bars in the doors, take all those little brackets off the motor that are uneeded. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by gser67 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">dont look for a place to take out 100 pounds....look for 100 places to drop a pound.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Removing panels,seats,etc.. ? More specifically how can you get an EG hatch to about 1800lbs?</TD></TR></TABLE>
It all depends on how serious you are!!! If you are gonna go all out Just remove everything that you dont need....ie dash, bumper supports, door supports, cut the hatch door and just leave the latch (suckers about 25-35 lbs)....be creative!

CF Hood, CF hatch, Gut Dash, take out heater core/blower motor, take sound deadening out, no carpet, no rear seats, no plastic no door panel, no a/c, no p/s, cruise, door supports, rear supports for 1/4 panel, unbolt bumper supports, the support bar that goes under the rear seat about 10 bolts hold it on, lexan windows. plus more and more
but keep in mind after taking all this out your car is seriously unsafe and you need a cage, seat, harness, and i woudn't be driving it on the street that much

EXACTLY! Every little bit helps.
Also, before you go cutting stuff off of the car, look for replacement parts that are lighter like aftermarket brakes, suspension and so on.

cut out your spare tire hole, remove the gas tank and replace with a very small fuel cell.. replace the front end with a 1 piece fiberglass unit, remove the alternator and run a very small motorcycle-like battery and charge it inbetween runs, lexan windows, totally gutted interior, fiberglass or CF hatch and hood, lightweight wheels and tires, remove all sound deadening and any unneded braces and supports, as well as remove any flooring behind the driver seating section, gut the doors except for the latch, remove all bumper supports, get a smaller radiator
basically remove everything that wont make the car unstable

remove windshield washer reservior.. take dash out and gut everything under it and put it back or go with a fiberglass dash.. remove seats and get a carbon fiber seat.. remove all audio components and gut out doors..

Before you start cutting anything on the car. you have to decide that this car you are cutting up would most likely never be sold at its optimum price. Dont take a perfectly good car to strip it and make it worthless. Look for a junky car to work with that you get for dirt cheap and work on that.

i highly reccomend this also.
i highly reccomend this also.
my 92 cx weighs 2020 w/ me (145lbs) in the driver's seat. without me the car weighs roughly around 1875 without any cutting what's so ever. body is in tact, full chromoly cage and wheelie bars, lexan front and sides ( rear hatch is still glass ), fiberglass doors, full front end minus headlights.
jus to let u know...i was first skepticle about the weight thought it would be the heaviest hot rod on the track cuz i didn't cut anything but its perfect right now. good thing i didn't start hacking away. had i, i'd be underweight.
sooo first get the ball rolling and get the car together with everything then weigh, then start the weight reduction.
o and what will said
