Does anyone know anything new about these including tire sizes, availability, and price?
I can't remember where, but I saw them up for presale in my size (205-50-15) for almost $94!!!! They used to be $65-$70 per tire. That's more than a 25% price increase. WTH?

We'll have pricing soon on our website. Falken did raise the prices as well as the performance of the tire.
We'll have the 205/50R15 sometime in the next couple months.

RT-615 has nylon reinforced sidwalls (instead of steel like RT-215). This actually reduces the weight of the tire, while increasing the stiffness of the sidewall (also increases the cost). The dry grip is supposed to be better, and the wet grip is supposed to be way better than the old azenis (RT-215). The new tread compound is supposed to work better at the higher temps that caused RT-215 to get greasy (also increases cost). Also, the new tread blocks are desgined to join eachother as the tire wears down. This should increase its performance as the tire wears in. We will see when people actually start driving on them. I'm gonna have to try a set of 205-40-16s when my dunlop fm-901s are done for...
I got all this info directly from a rep at the last SEMA show.

They are being discontinued, the tire is 7 years old. Falken feels that it is time for new technology.

you know how the azenis rt215 tire...for example at the size 215/45/16 it was more like 225/45/16</TD></TR></TABLE>
Here are some pictures of the Hankook R2S next to RT215 and the new RT615, for comparison sake. Images are clickable for larger size.

I really didn't have much of a problem with the RT215 when used as a daily driver, except for the noise. But the new tyres, both Hankook and Falken, don't seem to be any quieter.
You could also melt the RT215 very easily on a road course and by the end of a 20 min session in Group 3 on a summer day in Virginia, you really wouldn't have a lot of grip left.
Both the new RT615 and Hankook R2S are supposed to handle heat better.
The reputation of the RT215 also suffered a bit because everybody felt that it didn't handle wet weather well. I really just don't think that was true, and I remember some impressive performance at Summit Point on a very wet track including that running stream they get across the pavement.
I think the problem was that people would let the tread blocks wear down half way and then try to speed through 2" standing water or something.
Anyway, both the new RT615 and Hankook R2S are supposed to handle water better, too.
