Re: tire guys... (whitericeEG)
I have the Kumho Ecsta Supra and have to say they are a good price and provide much traction (nonracing). But they tend to wear quick.

As does mine, Falken makes a mean tire although if you had a lot of money to spend you might want to look at the Toyo T1-S's but for your buck, the Azenis's are the ones to go with.

I voted for Kumho Ecsta, although IMHO the Ecsta 711 is a better value than the Ecsta Supra 712 (I got my 711s for $43 apiece in 205/50-15).
Azenis are great, but they are overkill for the street and don't last any longer than 20k or so. They're fine in the wet, but be very very careful of standing water.
The Kumho Ecsta don't offer quite as much dry grip as Azenis, although in normal and "spirited" street driving, I honestly can not tell much of a difference. However in autocross, the Ecsta is a squeal-fest in comparison. So unless you do some dangerous, downright stupid maneuvers out on public streets, I would recommend going with the $43-apiece-goodness Ecsta 711s and save yourself a little cash. Also, my 711s are excellent in the rain, and can handle standing water pretty well. I expect them to last for between 20-25k, so tread life should be just a little better than my Azenis (which are bald now but still have autocross life left!).

Yea forgot to add that Azenis's are horrible in a little water, and also snow. Yea I agree with Targa about the Kumho's, for an everyday drive around tire, go with the kumho 711's I was never a big fan of the 712's for the value. But if you are planning on doing autox then go with Azenis.

Or Kumho Ecsta MX, which offer the same amount of grip in both dry and wet for a significantly lower price.

I would definitely have to say azenis. My friend cooked his AVSES100 in literally 6 months. They were completely bald. Their handling is okay, but once your car breaks free it is hard to save like with the azenis. Not sure about kumho or toyos though...but between azenis and avs i'd say azenis

Re: tire guys... (whitericeEG)
I had 195/55/15 711's when I bought my car. They were pretty good I guess. The front tended to lock up in tight corners so I didn't like that. I had the yokohamas on my 17's and they were pretty ok too. I haven't really been impressed yet, but I am getting some Azenis as soon as possible!

"Lock up in tight corners"?
Please explain this to me.

Re: (FifthGearOnline)
the falkens are some good tires. Comparable would be the kumha esta mx. They are similar in price and in grip. I think the treadwear on the kumho might even be lower.
the kumho 711s and 712 weren't impressive to me. They wore pretty quickly, and they provided low grip.
