Pulled Plugs, 3 Light Gray, 1 Really White? Clogged Injector?
First of all I have gsr. Whenever I give the car more then about 40% throttle it begins to bog down and climbs RPM's very slowly. My air fuel gauge pegs itself to one bar red on the lean side. I pulled the spark plugs today and noticed that three of them were perfect color and one (cylinder #3) was bright white.
This means that cylinder #3 is getting too much spark and not enough fuel. Is it possible my Cylinder #3 injector is clogged? Every other spark plug was a light grayish color so there didn't seem to be any problems in those cylinders. This leads me to believe that it almost has to be the injector then.
Fuel filter was changed couple thousand miles ago. Also i last replaced the plugs about 6-7k miles ago. I have a new set up plugs on the way that i'm going to throw in friday. I checked the resistance of the plug wires and they all turned out fine. Visually they look fine too. As far as the distributor i opened the cap and it looks brand new, not a sign of corresion or build up. I'm not going to change the distributor mainly because the problem seems to be fuel related and only is happening in one cylinder.

Do you have all the same sympthoms? What do your plugs look like?

Kinda whitish. My car stutters a little in accelleration a bit and then smooths out. I've changed my plugs, wires, cap, and rotor 3 times so I know its not that. I know I'm dealing with a fuel problem too.

Are all your plugs white? It they are all white I would probably say it isn't a injector problem. It would make more sense if one is white meaning the cylinder is running lean and most likely an injector problem on that cylinder. That's what i am thinking is my problem atleast. But if all of the plugs are showing lean condition i would check fuel pressure, fuel filter, fuel pump.

You could send you injectors to RC engennering and have them clean and flow test the injectors. If you have a bad injector it will show up when they test them. I think it is $100 plus shipping, and i thikn they send it back next day air to you

Yah that kinda pricey considering I can probably buy a set of 4 off here for like $30. Just wanted to get some input before I actually bought some to see if people think that is my problem.

yeah all my plugs look the same. I have the RC310's. Isn't there another way to clean the injectors yourself with out sending them out somewhere?
I checked my compression today and:
#1= 185 #2=185 #3=190 #4=185
So that turned out fine. Also i checked my spark plug gap and it .044in which it is suppose to be .051in for the GSR. So i changed that. I also checked the voltage at the injector clips and they are all within the same range. Just for the hell of it i swapped injector from cylinder #3 with cylinder #1 to see if the problem follows the injector. If it does then I know it is the injector for sure.

When I changed injectors out on my legend, this guy had a cool trick to tell if they were working or not. I'm not sure if this would help, but it would let you know if you are getting fuel flow at all. Basically you take the injector off the the fuel rail, connect wires to your battery and match up the pos-pos and neg-neg on your little injector, and blow on the top. Fuel should come out.
Hope that helps... it's been a long time since I've been back to this board. Also, both the HELMS and HAYNES manuals have diagnosis for spark plugs colors. gl...

Generally cylinder 3 runs abit leaner that the rest... that why guys put their exhaust temperature probe on #3. The difference in colour might be normal. If none of the plugs are showing chocolate brown it appears that everything is running lean, I'd look at something common to all cylinders, O2 sensor, MAP sensor, Fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator. If you have access to a scan tool you can check the fuel trim. If it's trying to add fuel (positive fuel trim), then may be a problem with fuel system. If it's showing it taking away fuel (negative fuel trim) I'd look at the sensors.
In any case to eliminate the injectors, try swapping #3 injector with another one. If the white plug moves with the injector then definetly an injector issue.
Post a pic of your plugs.

Honestly I dont think the problem is across all cylinders. There is only one plug that really stand out and that is #3. I realize this cylinder runs hotter but the color between this plug and the others is way off. I could be wrong though. As far swapping the injector to another cylinder I did that today. I'm going to drive the car a while tomorrow and check the plugs again.
I'll see what i can do about getting a picture.
Another possibilty is a clogged cat. It seems to have a lot of sympthoms that a clogged cat would have. I've been hearing some rattles around 4k and it seems like it is coming from under the car. It wouldn't really explain the one white spark plug though, but its another possibilty. I'll see if i can pull it off this weekend and see what it looks like. Those bolts are never fun to get off though.
All I know is that I have good compression, the cylinders are getting spark (due to the plug being white) and the injectors are pulsing. Just because the injectors are pulsing doesn't mean that the appropriate amount of fuel is getting in the cylinders though. I did check fuel pressure at idle and it was at 44psi.
This problem is kicking my *** and I dont feel like throwing parts at it untill something fixes it. Seems like a lot of people do that on this board. I'll figure it out.
