Default Update: Koni 8041- RACE Honda racing shocks

Finally the first production runs of the 8041- RACE shocks are in the country and in transit to Koni North America. These are first of the pre-shortened and pre-race valved units that will be available on the shelf as opposed to requiring to be custom made.

The List pricing has been set at $300 each ($1,200 set of 4) and with standard retail discounting, I would not be surprised to see them sell under $1,000 for four. The front shocks are 25 mm shorter bodies and have approx. 40 mm of additional rebound stop (droop limiter) compared than the similar Sport shock. The rear shocks have a 15 mm shorter body and approximately 35 mm additional rebound stop. They all come with the standard spring perch mounted on circlips so any Koni, Ground Control or proper fitting coil-over sleeve system can be used. The all have the most current SPSS3 racing valving in them. As with any race designed and intended shock, they will not carry the lifetime warranty of a street shock. For Stock class autocrossers, please not that these are not legal max length unless the rebound stop is changed.

Applications and part numbers:
'89-91 CRX & Civic: 8041-1166 RACE front and 8041-1153 RACE rear
'92-95 Civic and all Del Sol: 8041-1152 RACE front and 8041-1153 RACE rear
'96-00 Civic: 8041-1152 RACE front and 8041-1213 RACE rear
'94-01 Integra (exc. Type R): 8041-1152 RACE front and 8041-1153 RACE rear
'88 CRX & Civic (front only): 8041-1166 RACE front
Integra Type R (front only): 8041-1152 RACE front

Integra Type R & '88 CRX owners: rear shock 8041-1164 RACE is in development and will be available hopefully mid-summer.

These parts are here or nearly here and can be ordered through any Koni dealer. The parts are so new that you may need to provide the dealer with the part numbers or they are listed in the new Koni Racing catalog on page 11: http://www.koni-na.com/pdfcata...g.pdf

We will first test to see how the 8041-1166 RACE and 8041-1153 RACE fit on that car becasue the lengths are normally a bit longer. Once that is known, we'll decide to include that application or make a specific one. The narrower the year range and older the car gets, the riskier the development and inventory of the parts is. I would like to have a fitment for that car but it is not finalized yet.

:applause:

Classic example of giving the people what they want. Good stuff Lee. It's a pity I already have SPSS3 shocks on the car or I'd be all up in this. I will pass the information along to anyone I know building a Honda.

Good news!

Glad to see companies that will adapt to the Honda racing market. I may be picking up a set, I just need to figure a few things out in the next week or two and will then have a decision.

The 8041 dampers are rebound adjustable externally.

Excellent!

Stupid question Lee... Will the Koni warranty apply since they are a "factory" built unit?

Hahahaha! I stopped reading after this sentence:

"They all have the most current SPSS3 racing valving in them."

I was sold at that point and simply never went ahead. Foolish mistake, sorry.

Why are these not offered as double adjustable units? What is the additional cost to get them with compression adjustment as well?
