Default Four-oh-four's, what exactly is the "nasty idle"?

I've heard of stock LS's spanking with the Crower 404's, but I've also read that the idle is really nasty with the wild cam setup. Is "nasty" supposed to be like a rumbling sound? Or a surging idle or what? I'm trying to see if it's something I can live with before I drop them in my LS.

The idle isn't bad at all. Its a little lumpy at startup but once its warm it is very tame. My little sister has them in her daily driver and hasn't ever had any problems.

It also has to do with how much overlap you're running.

My car didn't idle without my foot on the throttle for cold starts.

Once it warms up, the idle is lumpy, surging from 1100rpm to 300rpm

I was running an overlap of 4.

This sound clip is not of 404's but it is of large H23A1 cams(quicktime format):

right-click, save as

But illsutrates the point of a "nasty," "lumpy" or "lopey" idle. This is a 1000 rpm idle.

How much idle at vacuum was the motor pulling on the B18B's?

What are you guys using for injectors and engine management?

I can definitely deal with that. It's not sleeper by any means, but I wouldn't mind the extra power.
