What will be of the RSX?
good question.
I read on another forum that the rsx may take a little break, but it wasnt from any credible source. i dont see why it would tho, Honda and Acura have always lived in such hormony

just my toughts...but it seems like honda is wanting acura to be more of a luxury sedan company, and honda more of the sports car company. i mean, they made their most sporty car a honda, not acura(s2000).
I'm fairly confident that the end of the RSX/Integra name will come at the end of the 06 model year.
Acura will likely build another coupe though, but this one will be in the 30K+ range, and probably fit in where the CL left out.

are you basing that on real facts are by the honda theory =D
theory: honda makes a new model, 3 years later, they retain most of the car but my some minor changes, and then 2 years later they come out with a new model..

....thats RWD and turbo too, with some recaros and the weight of an 88 CRX HF

i think it would be a great idea for honda and acura to reposition their brands. acura has always been lamented as a faceless luxury nameplate for honda. i never understood why acura would sell the integra/rxs, though they have sold the snot out of them, at the expense of the civic/accord. i think the market has forced honda's hand. they have a strong brand in the civic worldwide, yet the acura is a northamerican brand. it would make sense, from a branding/marketing strategy, to move it's luxury market further into that segment.
don't get me wrong, i love the rsx, but i think something along the lines of a 2 dr TSX would be better. i think that honda needs to move more of it's models into RWD/AWD congiurations to really be considered a premium automobile.
just my $.02 before i hit the door and go home.

actually, i'm glad honda keeps away from turbos and superchargers. this gives them and their engine technology the same integrity bmw has (who purposely also avoids using f.i...in recent years)
f.i. is fun, but lag and pulley efficiencies bite it.

I don't have many facts to base that on, but if you look at what's being done with the new Si, it doesn't leave too much room for the RSX to play with.
With the new Civic having 200hp, 6MT, and even LSD, I don't see that having a similarly powered RSX would make too much sense from a business aspect.
And then there's all the talk about wanting Acura to maintain it's Luxury image. The RSX doesn't help that according to most people (I don't think it hurts the image too much personally), but it makes sense to have a 2 door sports coupe under the Honda name rather than Acura. VW, Toyota, and others don't use their luxury names (Audi, Lexus, etc.) to market their sport coupes, why should Honda?
Just a couple thoughts.

A.) the title of the thread should be "What will become of the RSX?"
B.) "into extinction" not "in distinction"...whatever the **** that means.
C.) no, not any more than the Civic Si pushed the Integra out of production.

remember, that was only a concept. just like the concept turbo civic si(ep)
Yeah, but I could've sworn that some Honda execs have said that the real Si will have 200hp as well. It wouldn't be too hot on their part to hype everything up like that and only deliver 180 with a 5spd.
Time will tell I guess.

If they would just bring over the Type-R, and call it a Honda Integra everyone would be happy.

Honda definitely needs to add some AWD or RWD vehicles to their lineup, probably only to the acura brand.
Also they need to realize that america's market demands horsepower and they can't just keep giving the power based on the country, if anything they should put their most powerful engines in the US. 200hp should be seen as an absolute minimum and not a dreamy figure for the Si. People that aren't hondaphiles don't care about brand loyalty, so its the performance and car that will need to sell.
In all honestly, the new Si needs 220hp to truly be on par with the rest of the market. SRT-4, Cobalt SS, ion redline, etc. They can't let newcomers beat them in a market they started.
