REfinishing wheels ?**
im about to refinish a set of alloy rims. i have chosen to go with the dupli color system. ill be refinishing them to satin black. Need to know what steps i need to take in the process. and if the rims need any type of primer befor i give it the fresh coats of black.
1. Get a red 3M scuff pad from any auto parts store (should be near body work stuff)
2. Use scuff pad on wheels
3. Wash wheels with soap and warm water.
4. Let wheels fully dry
5. Prime wheels with 2 coats or so
6. Paint wheels, making sure to use light coats so there are no runs.
7. Use 4-5 coats, depending on how coverage goes.
I did some this way a few years ago, still look great.

alright kool. thanks so much eh. but i shouldnt used any kind of sand paper for those scrathes or anything??? and also do i sand down the primer after i put it on or jus go straight to paint?
thanks again!!!
thanks again!!!
Essentially the red scuff pad is sandpaper, trust me, it's rough. Don't use sandpaper though as it will leave grooves in the metal, it's be a bitch to get right again. I don't think you need to sand down the primer, you can if you see any rough spots, but it's not necessary.
