Default internal wastegate welding

Can a internal wastegate valve be welded shut so i can run an external? I've been told by a few people that i might not be able to because of the different metal that is involved. Can someone explain this to me. Thanks

Im sure you could, but you have to remember that the wastegate isnt there just for show. Id be concerned with the runner before the actual 'flapper' becoming a decrease in performance.

If your not running anything nuts, and internal wastegate will do you just fine.

You can just unhook the actuator and tie it shut, or just buy a blockoff plate.
