I was just outside taking my interior apart to clean and noticed this on the underside of the steering column:
Sorry the pic is a little blurred

It has one red wire (thin as can be) going to the fuse panel and abotu 6 thick ground wires that can be seen in the pic above.

Here is the key that slid out of that holder in the top pic:

Its a "chip" for a kill switch type thing. I have one in my truck and it disables all electrical stuff in my truck. All depends on what you want it for. Since you found it there might be a slot for it. But then again i dont think so if you just found it on the floor and the car can start.
If the car doesnt start you know why

Actually the slot it goes in is under the steering column in plain view. I'm working on the pics to show you....
I'm going to try and start the car with the key out, BRB!

oh you didnt have that pic before.
Anyway that has to be the stupidiest place to put that ever. I would take the tape off and move that more under your dash. Anyway take the key out, and try to start your car. If the car doesnt start then you know its hooked up. If it starts then its not and you could just toss the key or try to sell it.
Kill switch thats what it is. Just one thing, if it works, dont loose that key or your screwed until you get a replacement.

Tyte $hit!
Car will not even turn over with the key removed
Where can I read up on this thing? I have a few Q's....
1) Are the keys universal?
2) What if the key is lost?
3) Can I remove this thing as if it was never installed?
4) If yes to #3, how do I go about that?
5) Who makes this and how much are they?
Thanks!

1) Are the keys universal? No each key is programed to its slot, but any stero place can reprogram a key for you
2) What if the key is lost? just dont loose the key
3) Can I remove this thing as if it was never installed?Yes but i sure hope you know your electrical
4) If yes to #3, how do I go about that? Take it to a shop, or follow all the lines to were they meet and see how they did it.
5) Who makes this and how much are they? ATS ? lol. I dont know but you could get it at any radio/stero shop

This was not a "facotry" option, but an aftermarket dealer option. If it was installed, your car has it, if it wasn't, it doesn't, simple as that. Believe me I know, sold Honda/Acura for 4 years. This is NOT a "factory" option or a manufacturers accessory.
