My wife drives a 96 Coupe and has 205/40/17 Kuhmo ECSTA 712 on it. Her car is lowered apprx 1.5-2" with no camber correction on it. When traveling down the road it will grab ruts in the road and cause the steering wheel to dart left or right and gets kind of annoying. There are no rubbing issues.

Will camber correction help this problem?
What size rims and tires do you run?

no it will not. when you lower a car, you will feel the road (potholes, bumps, speedbumps, littlewaves, etc...) more than stock suspension. when you start using bigger rims, you will feel the road more than stock 13/14/15 inch rims.

put two together, you will feel the road a lot more than stock setup.

if she wants a little smoother ride, i'd recommend her getting smaller rims, and better shocks/struts.

i don't think she should need a camber or toe kit. maybe toe, but anything below 2-inches shouldn't need it.

I think that a camber kit will help to rectify the problem. It may not solve it completely due to the increased wheel size, but it will help.

When you lower your car you increase the negative camber.
Your wheels are like this / \.

With that you are running mainly on the inner portion of the tire. By adjusting the camber, you will go more towards the positive side bringing the wheels to a more vertical position | |. Like that. By putting more of the tire on the road, you'll be less likely to follow the ruts in the road. IMO.

Out of the 15 & 16's what were the pro's and con's in your opinion?

What camber kit is the best for her car?

No idea with the camber kit, but I'll give my 2 cents on the wheels. If you're focus is apperance stick with 16" and 17" wheels.

They'll serve the same purpose as 15's but with the larger wheels you increase weight, rotational mass, and usually affect your gear ratios by going with a larger tire (O.D.).

If you're not a track *****, drag racer, or etc. stick with whatever floats your boat.

 

The car is daily driver. My wife like the 17s so I guess they'll stay. It is an EX auto so it doesn't do much speed just goes back and forth to work.

Anyone that has had 17s and switched to a 15 or 16 what was ride quality like.

Any camber kits ideas would be nice.
