Concern about Octane
I have a '95 accord ex and it has been using 87 octane fuel since it has been bought...i talked to a mechanic and he said now that the car is getting to be over 10 years old that i should switch to a higher-octance fuel. does it make any difference? keep in mind i'm reving to redline at points (like 6400 rpms)...
thanks
thanks
since the stock motor has very low compression, and you are using the stock ecu (unaltered fuel and timing maps), you do not need to raise the level of octane you are using in your motor...the higher octane merely resists detonation better, which is not a risk with your motor...my ecu has been modified to run extremely advanced timing, making it essential for me to run 93 octane...but 87 is fine for you...
Oh yeah I forgot I can edit my own title! Yay!

That about sums it up.
That about sums it up.
it really doesnt matter how old the car is, In fact the older the car and more miles on it the less compression it has so running the same octane would not hurt the car at all. Maybe just run a thing of fuel injector cleaner once in a while
