Rattling, all over the rpm range, NOT heatshields...
Figured I'd post here and see if you all think it's the cat (which is my guess currently).
car is a 2000 GS-R, JDM ITR 4-1, Carsound cat, comptech ice box, rest (powertrain wise) is pretty much stock.
The car has no heatshields installed at all so it's not a heatshield.
Sounds like a metal to metal rattling that increases in noise with rpm and if you are on the gas in 1st gear and get off it quickly the noise increases for a second then drops..
The car seems to be driving fine. CEL bulb was removed long ago but I will probably reinstall the bulb tonight and check for any codes besides the 67 that's been there for years.
Any other ideas besides the cat?

Could be. I'll probably put the car on stands this weekend and check to see if I can isolate the noise. It sounds like it's coming from the front of the car though. It doesn't sound like it's the motor so I'm not worrying about it too much currently.

There is a heat shield right under the shifter. Mine is vibrating now too. I removed the one on the cat cause it got all rusted and loose. From what I've heard Integras are infamous for heat shield rattles.

As I said in my first post, the car has no heatshields installed.
All of them were removed years ago

it could be your stock headers *if you still have that on*. I had the same problem and so did a buddy of mine.....it was just the most annoying rattling sound. I thought it was the heat shield...but it wasn't. Come to find out it was the headers. Check that out.
holy ****....i just read that you had JDM 4-1 headers. NEVER MIND. I'm a blind ***
