Default Making an aluminum intake manifold.

I could not find very much information on intake manifold DIYs. But this would be for a 92 (2nd generation) acura legend. it is a 3.2 liter 90 degree V6, SOHC, etc.

the stock runners are approximately 21 inches long on average, and they need to be somewhere between 8 and 11 inches long.

I am thinking the easiest way is going to be just a oblong manifold, but I do not know if a design where the manifold is mounted between the tops of the heads. so that the runners will come from the top of the mani, and curve over to the ports on the head.

the second way was to have it mount above the tops of the heads, and have them come straight down at an angle to the ports on the head. I think it would be A. harder to get the hood clearance I need, since there isnt much, and B. get the 8-11 inches I need from a straight tube.

I think connecting the throttle body will consist of having a flange made to the size of the current TB, and welding it straight onto a 90mm tube (or whatever the TB diameter is)

I will try to draw up some sketches of what I mean, it is just 6:40 am, and I am brain dead

What do you all think of this? I can get the thing welded for no cost, other than materials, and have the flanges cut on a water jet, I just need to know what design is best.

Unless the stock design is poor, you may not get much gain from this...and time/money may give more gains by spending it elsewhere.

You can always get aluminum tube in a large size, and press it to an oval to help with hood clearance.

SDS's website shows pics of an intake manifold being made, that sounds similar to what you will want to make. You'll want to make yours a little different, but it may give you some ideas.

Yes. Not the prettiest I've seen, but you can probably draw a few ideas from it.

I was hoping someone that has made one, or helped design one could be of some help.
