Although the 92-93 GS-R tranny would be your best bet, they are hard to come by. Your other choices would be the JDM cable trannies which are more readily available than the coveted YS1 92-93 GSR tranny.

Look for a Y1, S1, or J1 cable tranny. These will all directly bolt up to your setup.

Good luck

So it's hydro. You would need to do a cable to hydro conversion, major pain in the *** plus it's pretty expensive.

small spline clutch (90-91)

just get a cable b16 trannie such as the si, j1
these trannie have very short gears just like the itr but uses the small spline clutch and have weak syncro's
do not get the jdm y1 tranmission that came of the b16 crx trust me i have one on my car. that trannie has the longest gears out of all the b16 trannies. the y1 has longer gears and does not have the 4.4 final drive. the y1 has longer gears that the 94+ gsr trannies but the gears are still much shorter than a ls trannie

big spline clutch 92-01
theses trannies are the ones that you want. that have short gears, and that have the stronger syncros like the 94+ hydro trannies
upu can also get the 92-93 gsr ys1 trannie but your never going to find that
or you can get the b16 ys1 that came off the jdm DA integras
but the problem with geting a ys1 transmission is that you cant tell if its a b16 shorted geared trannie or a super long gear ls trannie cuz that both are ys1

Would I be ablie to rev above the 7500 rpms because I hear you can't rev up no more than 8000 rpms with this tranny. Is this true?

Thank for your help

i personally think the gsr trans would be the best. On an lsvtec, you cant rev high. The b16a/itr gearing causes the car to rev quick, then you'd be going through the gears way too fast. If you only drag race, then do get a b16a trans....but for dailly driving, gsr trans would probably be more ideal for your set up... just my .02

You say I can rev higher and that exactly what I'm looking for and I also readed that is better for a daily driver an I'm one of those.

Like how higher can one rev with a gsr?

If I do get the gsr. I would put a obx LSD with the ls 5th or you think that would not be necesary what you think?

Thank for your help yall guys are really helpfull

well as long as hes not driving around alot with just a b16 tranny. keeping it at high rpms all the time. for ex. like highway driving. if he get a gsr 5th gear he would be fine. just as long as you keep it on low rpms and take care of it on your daily driving days would make sense to me. just my 2cent

rod stroke ratio is not a problem on the ls block. it is mostly the rod bolts. and once those are upgraded, along with the oil and water pumps and timing belt, i dont see any reason not to be able to rev as high or (depending on setup) higher than a gsr.
sorry. back to topic.
