Default Transmision for Lsvtec

I am about 80% done with my lsvtec and I am wondering about trannys. I have and LS tranny that I could use but I was wondering would it be a lot better to get a tranny that is gear lower. or will the LS tranny with an LSD be good??

type r tranny rules.
i switched over to a type r tranny on my gsr- best thing i ever did.
ever.

gearing = waaaay better than gsr, LS sucks.
LSD = accellerationg/turning sooo much better.

only possible downside= on the freeway, rpms are approx 4200-4400 while cruising at 80mph, depending on your tire size.

b16 tranny is also good too. almost like the type r tranny minus the lsd.

I was thinking of getting a Itr tranny but im not sure how I would work the hydraulic clutch. Plus the price of these tranny are rediculse. Is there any where you know that i could look for either a b16 tranny or a Itr trans.

there a plenty on ht itr =b16 or a gsr if u want better gas mileage get it tuned and put in a ls 5th great gas mileage due to lower highway cruising speed btw the gsr trans is the best of both worlds . its good n/a or boost

yea itr=b16 gearing except for the lsd it only comes in the itr tranny but the lsd goes used for like 300. the jdm itr tranny has a 4.785fdinal drive the ameekan final drive is 4.4 if u dont know wut that means the jdm one is shorter gearing at 80 would make it closer to 5 4 something i believe.

i wouldn't say BEST of both worlds. it doesn't even have an lsd..well the usdm one anyways.

I want a itr trans because of the LSD but I am trying to figure out what would be cheaper a itr trans or a b16 with an LSD installed IM thinking itr. because having hp is half the battle putting to the ground is key.

the b16 tranny cost less and it easier to find cable or hydro u can get a used itr lsd for like 250-380 but it cost like 250-300 to get lsd installed into the tranny more if its already in the car so all those things combined u could get a itr tranny with the lsd in it already .However no way of knowing the condition of the tranny

ew... ls tranny with lsd!!! its not worth it! the ls gears is too long...by the time you shift to a higher gear your rpm will drop...itr is not bad... but if you wanna save money, it will probably be cheaper to get b16, or gsr tranny and putting lsd on it!

Currently I have a b16/w S1 trans. well when I first did the swap I used an Ls tranny A1. I am using my buddy's b16 trans. but my question arose because I really didn't notice much of a difference between the two.
A1 S1
1st 35 30 MPH
2nd 65 60 MPH
3rd 85 80 MPH
These are all the speeds shifting at 8k is that really much of a difference and how much will it differ when is on the lsvtec? Because in the near future my friend will want his trans back and he defiantly will not part with it..

u can go 2 autocrossing.com to get exact speed but on hydro gsr

1st is 38.2
2 is 64.7
3 rd is 90
4 is 119
5 th is 156

The topspeed is higher in the ls tranny but acceleration is not as good
1st is 30
2 in 60
3 is 100
4 120
5 is 166
with more mods to either engine gets these speeds is easier

I wonder is the final drive better in the Itr and would you be able to replace like a b16's trans final drive with a Itr final drive?? Would that be better???

the only final drive that is better for n/a is the jdm itr ratio 4.785 in the 98 itr i believe cost is like 400 bucks give or take the gsr tranny is great i don't get on it all the time but the acceleration is very good my gas mileage was better with my ls auto tranny but its a compromise

could you use a itr final drive with a gsr trans. the only thing i am worried about is messing with the cable to hydro conversion.
