Type r connecting rod and GSR??
I have a 94 gsr that needs a new connecting rod.I orderd one from my local Acura dealer but they tell me that the gsr rods are not loger availeble and the where superseded to the Type r rod.Now I have (3) gsr rod and (1) type r rod...is there any diffence in then two.
The itr rods are much heavier. You will need to find a good used gsr or buy 3 more itr rods. The one heavy rod will throw off the balance of the engine

Damn, I didnt know that! Why would they be heavier? Seems the ITR engine would want lighter components and not heavier.

The cranks are also heavier.Inline fours are more stable (less buzzy) with the proper weight cranks.Light weight cranks will accelerate faster but not as good at sustained rpm.The itr rods are heavier (stronger) at the big ends.

yea if you think about it also, the big end isnt reciprocating like the end with the piston... so being lighter at that end probably makes the difference. all I know is when I put in my ITR block in my GSR it revved up faster than my GSR motor. all else was unchanged
(tears) im getting nostalgic. that was 65K miles ago...
ive also had a 7lb flywheel on it for 45K of that. WHAT A DIFFERENCE.

It seemed like it at first to me, too...but if you really think about it it reciprocates just as much as the small end, except instead of only going up and down it goes side to side, too!

If you had the itr pistons, then you had more comp. than the gsr also.

Are the R pistons longer than the GSR?

The ITR rods are heavier than the GSR rods because supposidely, the metal composition is different. Dunno how true that is. Never actually held the two in my hands and compared.
As for another GSR rod...you considered contacting Len or acuraautomotiveparts.org to see if they can get a hold of them?
