b16a swap tips and tricks
i have a b16a that i am going to put in my 89 crx si. What tips and tricks are there for installation and is there anything that i can or should do to the motor for better performance. Also what oil should i use in the motor.
I would recommend a simple search.
One tip I can think of off the top of my head is: Get a hammer and bang out the frame rail by where the alternator goes.

Tips:
You don't need to bang in the chasis to make the alt fit. Just get the smaller alt belt. But you use all your strength to pull it close enough to the block to make the clearance and even then it looks rediculously close.
Change all the stuff while the motor is outside of the chasis, water pump, thermostat, all belts, O2 sensors, any sensors that broke in shipping
Get a high pressure water spayer and clean your block off, but cover all the electirc stuff. You'll love the way it looks if you clean it off. Simple green works best...No dilution. 100%
When you are dropping the motor in...Make sure you line up the REAR motor mount correctly and put that sucker in. IT will be pretty complicated getting it to fit if the motor is already bolted to the chasis.
Axles: Make sure you have the right clamps on the boots and you have grease inside. Just don't loose anything out of those axles....ANYTHING.
Electric: Go to your junkyard now and cut out a wiring harness with about 5" of wire coming off the end. Practice, practice, and more practice taking the clips out/off and depinning the ecu wires. You'll thank yourself later when you aren't crammed under neath your dash for hours trying to figure it out then.
Check all your grounds......
Make sure the firing order for your spark and Dizzy are correct....
follow all Torque specs....no matter how rediculous they are....Too much and it'll snap...no enough and it'll back off...
that's all i can think of right now..
