Default Harnesses please help!!!! SI vs VX

Are there any differences between the si and vx 92-95 harnesses? I am dropping a d16z6 in my 91 dx. Can I use the vx harness without big headaches is my real question. Or should I get the si harness?

At the ecu the plugs should be the same, but under the hood I'm not sure.

Anyone?

Either harness will work. They are both wired for VTEC but the VX will have some extra emissions plugs. By the way, If you're putting the motor in a 91, how are you going to use a 92+ harness that won't match the car's harness at the shock tower? You need to use an 88-91 Si engine harness and then a wire jumper for the gray plug 92+ ecu.

I'm still not too sure about the wiring. What side at the shock tower do you say the harnesses won't match? driver side or passenger side? The harness that goes through the firewall on the driver's side is only for lightning and controls right? I have a dx and I am using 92 intake, block and head and exaust. Tranny will be from a 91. What do you suggest I should do?

Thanks for your help

I'm talking about the plugs on the engine harness not matching up with the main wiring harness plugs on the passenger side shock tower. These are the ones that go inside the car to the ecu, and the rest of the cabin. The 92+ engine harness has the gray plugs and they won't connect anywhere. You'll need to use an 88-91 Si engine harness and modify it to work with the motor. You'll probably also need the 92-95 harness for some of the plugs. Which ecu are you going to use? If you use a 92-95 OBDI then you'll need to get a jumper harness to allow it to plug in under the dash because the ecu plugs are different too.

if your going to use the d16z6 ecu/distributor and injectors i gurantee you-you will have problems. you'll have to rewire alot of things. your better off just convert your DX harness to SI then talk to BLOWN90HATCH for an adapter harness that he sells for good prices. thats the best help i can give you.
