Default Question concerning valves

I had just bought a head that has skunk 2 springs, retainers, valves. I inspected the head pretty well before i had bought it. When i got home, I decided to do one last inspection on the valves just to see if they were bent. I did this by shining a flash light into the intake and exhaust ports to see if I saw any light in the combustion camber (IN THE DARK). Unfortunately, I did see the SMALLEST light on 2 of them (different combustion cambers). Could these valves possibly be bent or is this ok? Do the valves have to completely block off any light? I have never done this inspection to a completely stock head, so that's why i am asking for help. If anyone have any kind of idea, I would greatly be appreciate it. Thanks you.

Here are a few pictures of the head that I bought. Tell me what you guys think about the port and polish also? I think this port and polish was really really mild.

The exhuast side was pretty much the same. No major port, just nicely polished.

Spray some carb cleaner in the ports. If it leakes to the combustion chamber side they are not sealing,or may be bent.

Thanks for the reply. I tried what you said and the carb cleaner did leak through, but VERY, VERY slowly. I know that valves are suppose to seal pretty well to keep a good compression, but how well? Thanks

you should be able to turn the head upside down and fill the combustion chambers with water and if it leaks around the valves you got a problem.

I will give that a try. In other words, all valves should seals up well enough not to let any kind of liquid through correct?

Thanks

correct...valves should not leak at all...if they do you are losing precious HP...
Yes the port job looks to be somewhat mild but looks like its not a bad job, seems they just cleaned up the ports a bit, nothing drastic...

Thanks for clearing this up for me. I'm going to put my stock valves in and see if there are any leaks. If it still leaks then i mush have a bad ported head. Thanks for the info.
